He makes more power then u do stock and u really havent done much to gain power. With the mods uve done...maybe 5-7hp. Do more to your car.

dude.. he's got massive displacement compared to you, a better intake, probably a hotter cam, etc.. it's gonna take more than a little performance exhaust to nail him..
I mean, approximated figures here with no real world backing, he's producing at least 175 horsepower and you may be up to 150.. you've got a ways to go.

[EDIT] Yanno.. I thought even the F company could do more with a 3.8 than they did '94-98.. but they didn't. 95 3.8 is rated at 145 ponies.. Site does not list torque numbers for 94-95, but I doubt it's far off 96's 150 horse 215 ft.lb. version.. so say 210 ft.lbs... you've got 170-175 ft lbs stock and 140 ponies stock... I'm not even sure how you're taking him off the line, but you should be able to wring him with a few more mods.. when you replaced the muffler, did you replace the cat? If not, consider a high flow cat.. have you upgraded your ignition components? Module, coil, 8mm wires.. if you want to really go for it there's always intake porting, head porting, and valve train upgrading.

In search of new v8 engine & transmission, now contemplating t5 swap to get me out of this mess.
MSD coil, Accel 8mm wires, SplitFire plugs, Gabriel hijackers, possible performance chip I don't know about.. gotta crack open the ECM and check sometime

Lemme take on that rustang with my Grand Am. Rated 170 horses from a stock 3.4! After the Camaro's done, time to look into a K&N and Dynomax for this car.

I think the 95's only have between 140 and 150 hp.

I used to beat my friend in his 94 V6 Mustang consistantly with my old 2.8 (post rebuild)

you won't need NOS to beat a Mustang with a 3.8L. My old 2.8L had enough spunk to embarass several stangs, I even caught my friend who has a manual tranny in his 3.8L after my car downshifted. So, you can do it, if you need mods, i'd say to upgrade the ignition, or maybe a performance cam. If you're really wanting to do performance to your car, you'll probably end up having to go internal, plus i would have to say that going internal is gonna cost money, but should be done before attaching a NOS setup.

Wanna whip his *** ?

1.6 rockers, not cheap rockers the full roller rockers which are 245 bucks..and a cam...

thats 450 in parts and more in labor unless u do it urself. if that doesnt kick his *** smack my *** and call me susan

btw...as i was just thinking i noticed u havea stereo. Take all ur stereo junk out when u race him to cut down on wait. fill with 1/4 tank of 101 octane race gas (i do when i race) and btw..not to be rude or anything...but if u weigh a lot that adds to being slow!

Mike86SC,

Yeah, you better believe your GA would smoke him!! I work for a Pontiac dealer, and we have a '94 'Stang 3.8 on the lot right now. It feels great down low, but past 3k, forget it. A new 3.4 Grand Am will eat it alive.

Hell, my '95 GA 3.1 matched a 5.0 auto not too long ago...still the funniest thing I ever did

When i had my 91 3.1L i couldn't beat one past 2nd gear.. I held first to 40mph with a 3.8L mustang but the gear lag would give the stang time to get a car on me... I continued messing with the same car as i built mine and i noticed after Dynomax exhaust, a coil, a tune up, K and N and pullies i could hold with him and pull on him into second The car already had a shift kit and B and M shift i had installed when i got the car.

I agree a good tune up, cold air and cam would do the trick, there really not fast cars and the handling is worse then ours. Not sure of the curb weight but i think their abit heavier too. Also, its not the HP yer after in a street race, you are after torque, thats the 0 to 60 seat of yer pants feeling.

I beat one of those 3.8 Stangs one time. Only one I ever raced and I beat it! I was surprised myself. I hung w/ one of the new stangs in a 3.8L Mercury Sable. This girl I used to work w/ had a 94 3.8 stang and she said it was fast and I about laughed. They aren't that fast till 98 or so.
