could this be the coolant temperature sensor?

i was watching shadetree mechanic today, and they brought up a point when changing the coolant temperature sensor. Since the sensor tells the computer if your engine is cold and when its cold it dumps more fuel, then if it was bad it would run rich 24/7. My car does, it constantly runs rich and gets crappy gas mileage...could this be a reason for the problem?

Is it the temp sensor in the driver side cylinder head?

the CTS is in the front of the intake manifold right next to the thermostat. it's around $12. when mine was bad it didn't throw a code either. those sensors can be lil bastards sometimes.

It's that thing?
Try this
Take it out
Go to bench grinder with wire brush on it.
Polish it clean.
Reinstall with pipe thread sealant. See what happens. I did this during my swap. Wish I knew about that IAC item, DAMN!

The driver's side cyl head sensor is for the gauge (or idiot light)... that's where my mechanical gauge sender is now.

i sure you guys were aware of this, but you know the rotten egg smell is also commonly assosiated with a faulty catalytic convertor. when mine broke, the exhaust at start-up smelled HORRIBLE.
