Extra sealing power

I am lucky enough to live in an area where there are no emissions testing.

I found an article way back in a chevy mag that a guy had converted a A.I.R. pump into a vacuum pump to draw out crankcase pressure. I dug into my engine bay today and found the air intake tube for this thing.
After a mysterious pop sounded(later found to be the A/C radiator...fun huh?) R12 spewed and I cleared the area to let it vent.
I took out the canister(the R12 was compleely drained) and reached around and found the intake tube. And it seems to be pretty accesable with this stuff out of the way, so that I can run a rubber heater hose or something to the valve cover and make it pull crankcase pressure, allowing the rings to seat better(increasing the seal pressure means higher compression) Esentially freeing up a few more ponies.
The pluming for this is somewhat of a pain, but probly more than worth it. You might be able to run the excess pressure back in to the air tube and let it seem like nothings out of place(to the emissions guy).

I am going to hook this up in my car and try to post a few pics showing what to do, if any are interested anyway...

That sounds great! I think some of the v8 guys on here have done that- you could probably search the Tech Board for info on it. Let us know how it goes!

I don't see the purpose of an AIR pump anyway. It pumps fresh air into the exhaust & cat. Doesn't that basically dilute the engine's exhaust mix? People say the AIR pump heats up the cat- how does pumping fresh, normal temperature air into the catalytic convertor heat it up? Ah well; I'm just glad I don't have one.
