im looking at painting my intake black and im wanting to see if anyone else has done it. thank you!

please, lol i was just looking at your swap thread aswell, im doings the exact same swap except mines still the 2.8, same color even xD

 

I used to have a black intake, on my extra 2.8.

 

any pictures? does it look good?

 

I'll try to dig up some. I personally didn't like it. But the paint was chipped from the previous owner, and it was flat.

Ok I thought Id post up in this thread incase your still looking for a pic of a black intake. Heres my car with one right now.

Mines not black but its red... I sanded the upper manifold down really smooth then put on 3 coats of red engine paint and 3 coats of clear coat engine paint...i think it looks good but i still want to do the lower intake manifold....well i cant seem to upload the pic right now but ill try again in a little bit....sorry!!

 

If you want it to look good and not flake/chip off when working on the engine you should opt for powdercoating, a lot more durable and imo looks better as well.

 

yeah, I was going to suggest powder coating, too!

 

Here's my red intake... i sanded it and layed down 3 coats of red and 3 coats of clear hight temp paint... its been on for 3 months and looks the same as the day i did it....

I just Repainted my upper and lower intake black and love it much better than red....I used enough coats and clear coat that it wont peel or crack for a long time...What does every one think of it?

 

I did a blue one with a black tb.

 

I've driven the Camaro that engines in, that 2.8l now runs right! Just hope I can get my 2.8l to run as well as that blue one :-D.
