That's alot of effort.
Go get a 3.4 & put it in. Better results.
How strong is your engine now?
Hopping up an old block usually increases wear factor big time.

Well with a cam it is hard to tell the final outcome..maybe 5-10 ponies the rocker arms...2-3 maybe...it just depends on how much better the 3.4 heads flow...

There is a guy on camaro Z28.com that had a comp cam, professionally ported 3.4 heads, and a modified LT1 plenum, and it all added 40 hp with 3.4 pacesetter headers.

No arguement there.
Honest, these heads are damn good as they are.
Really.
I just started porting and polishing the heads for my LT-1 I'm building for my 1967 Camaro (I'm using the 186 heads, same as for 1969 Z-28. Also doing a set for my Corvette, 487X heads.) Those heads have lots of crap in them, that's why you do port and polish old heads.
When I played with the swap, I kept the 2.8 fuelie heads. They are so many light years ahead of the old heads, not funny. Port and polish these 3.4 heads?
No
Power is made elsewhere. Like exhaust and intake, ignition. These V-6 are really very advanced engines, which is why they work so well, as is.
And you gotta agree with that, they really are great engines. Especially the Fuelie ones, no matter what size.
BUT only power for these engines comes from displacement.
That's why I did the 3.4 swap.

NOW if you were doing a 2.8 S-10 carb head swap to the 2.8 fuelie heads and 2.8 fuelie cam for same 2.8 engine, yep, that'll make power!
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE FUELIE & NON FUELIE HEADS! Fuelie is way better head flow.
