Engine Searching

What are the chances of finding a '94(i think that's right) 3.4L maro at a junkyard, with a decently fixable engine if not working. How much will it be??? What about for the swap? THanks

I believe KED85 spent about 900 for his long block in working condition.. I wouldn't bother with one that's dead, it'll cost more for the machine work than it's worth.

89V6, try crawling under the car and looking at the muffler.. it should have a part number (or maybe even the series #) stamped on the casing. Due to different pricing per shop on labor, noone can give you a truly accurate answer just from the cost. Even without labor, shops charge differently for parts too. Or you could go down to the shop and ask..

In search of new v8 engine & transmission, now contemplating t5 swap to get me out of this mess.
MSD coil, Accel 8mm wires, SplitFire plugs, Gabriel hijackers, possible performance chip I don't know about.. gotta crack open the ECM and check sometime

For $1700 and change you could get a complete (minus intake and ignition) GM Performance Parts 3.4HT crate motor. (I love GMPP crate motors ) It may seem a bit pricey, but it's ready to run and I beleive it has a twelve month warrenty.

Bone Stock, except for:

(Performance)
Flowmaster cat back exhust

(Non-Performance)
Pioneer DEH-P4000 head unit
Pioneer 6X9 Tri-Ax speakers
Jensen 8" dual voice coil sub
Blacked out tail lights and side markers (VHT
Nightshades spray tint)

(Hopefully these lists will grow quickly)

I like to think of it as a empty canvas

Sorry, went to sleep last night.
Yes, Chad, I left my post!
Give Marty a shout.
ONLY DEAL WITH MARTY, tell him Karl, the guy in the beige Firebird sent ya!
I paid $800 for a 40K long block.
I sold the left over parts for $105.
That helped pay for the gas (I drove to Santa Paula to install engine from beaches in LA, in my 1974 Corvette, during the rains of Jan.)
I highly recommend this to anyone. I mean, yes ya can pay $1600 for a 12 month. I got a 30 day warranty. As soon as I was done, I drove back (dropped off the old 2.8), Marty heard it and as I did, gave it his blessing.
Marty sells only the best!
NOW as an FYI, one can pay HIGHER or LOWER, depending upon what Marty has in stock. ya want a 60K mile engine, you pay less. Ya want a 20K, ya pay more.
I shopped around & found the prices to be almost the same. YET, I dealt with Marty, previously, recalled his standing behind his word & his service and I knew I could not go wrong.
I HIGHLY recommend this route!
I make NO money off this type of referral. I only have my good name to care about here. This job is alot of personl effort. Why risk it on a flaky foundation.
Oh, the new engines. These used engines, you drop the pan, and look. It looks (in my case) brand spanking new, just like my 7 months old baby butt! When I first saw my new engine, it also looked brand new!
Marty sells good stuff, Maynard!
I do ALSO suggest this option, too.

Northern Auto parts. GET A FEL PRO GASKET SET FOR YOUR CURRENT YEAR ENGINE. If ya have a 1985, get a 1985 2.8 gasket set.
I swapped in new timing chain.
I swapped new water pump.
Re read my post on how to do the swap. I've coached 12 people so far.
Print out the post, too. When you look at books, pics, nothing says it as much as when both engines are out, side by side.
You can do this, too!
Man, this train track is getting mighty crowded!
Oh, last tip, Re-read my post again and again.
How can I post that thread onto the tech tip section, please?
IF you want to see your finshed product, all you need do is open your hood. You are re-creating exactly what you already have in there.
