Somebody says I can't use these tires.

When I was at Costco looking at the price of tires he said he wouldn't sell me P245/50R16 or anything similar because I have a base camaro.

He said something about the car not handling it or something.

I don't believe it... but... Does he know what he is talking about?

Why couldn't you run 245/50R-16s on a base Camaro? That is, of course, if you had 16 inch wheels.

(Hopefully these list will grow quickly)

I like to think of it as a empty canvas

Maybe the guy thought you meant that they'd fit on it like it is, w/o new rims.

If you put 16x8 wheels on it, there shouldn't be a problem.. I think the guy thinks you're leaving them on the base 15x7s or something..

The problem is that u're trying to buy the tires from Costco. I ran into the same problem when me and my buddy went to buy tires for his aftermarket rims for his beetle. Salesperson told us that Costco has and must go by the book filled with the stock tires sizes. Something like Costco sold the some person a tire size other than stock, then the tire blew up or something and the person sued. So, it became policy for Costco to only sell tires for cars with their stock sizes. Pretty funny huh... aight payce.

But, if you think about it, Tec-21 IS buying stock sized tired. P245/50VR16's were offered from the factory.
these are the sizes.
205/75R14
215/65R15
215/65VR15
235/60R15
235/55R16
245/50VR16
245/50ZR16

these should be all the tire sizes offered from the factory for cams and 'birds from 82-92. 235/55VR16 might have been offered as well, but I'm not sure. they are on the 4th gens.

Cosco? Geez, that was your first problem. You should've told the guy he was a frickin' moron, and you're going to a real tire place. Feel free to call him an idiot, etc! Of course the car will handle them. Hell I have P275/60r15 tires on the back!

me personally am getting ready to run 245/40/17's all the way around. And if costco want to throw out close to 800 buck sale then they are stupid. But if I use a former employers' ID number I can get these for 94 a peice! bridgestone SP5000's ...Amazing the markup some people charge.
