No way.
Go buy a new classic and pass your past classic, to another!
Help preserve it.
I was working on another 1967 today.
4th gen, so removed from that car.
Go enjoy the new ride!

The new SS is a sweat a** car, but think of the insurance. Also are you making payments on your thirgen? You will be on a new fourthgen, unless you have some serious coinage that is.

Engine: LS1, Scrap
Transmission: T56, T5
Axle/Gears: 3.42 Stock ZT, 3.42 Open
And those headlights!! Ugh! I mean, I love camaros and all, but if someone gave me a mint 2001 SS the first thing I'd do is grab a '97 nose/headlight/etc assembly and start retrofitting it. Look like friggen luxury cars now.. the pocketed headlights made 'em look evil and menacing in a rearview.. new headlights look like an evil and menacing thing wearing geek glasses =\ .. not so evil and menacing anymore.

Misc Mods: Cut air box, '83 Firebird spoiler.
Performance Parts: MSD coil, Accel 8mm wires, SplitFire plugs, Gabriel hijackers.
Audio Mods: Pioneer DEH-P3000, two 12" Optimus Pro Audio subs in hand-made enclosure each powered by a 260 watt Optimus amp. Working on shaving the box for weight.

I love my third gen and love my 6.. In fact I bought a new truck so I could keep my 6 with low miles and keep modding it up, but if I could get a SS I WOULD ASAP... The SS is FAST!!! It ROCKS... BUY IT BUY IT... Forsake your thidgen heritage for a real kick *** car.

When I decided to buy my 4th gen, I knew that I'd be sad if I ever gave the 3rd gen up. So rather than buy a '99 SS and have only one car, I went one better and bought a '97 30th Anniversary Z28 and kept the RS!!!

And anyone who says a 4th gen is ugly hasn't really given them a chance. I always thought they were too until I sat down and really started considering a new car. Now, parked next to the RS, the Z is so modern and sleek looking, there's no way you can call it ugly.

i dunno about this debate, but for some reason, i felt cramped in a 4th gen camaro. it felt way smaller than my bird. maybe it was the color scheme (4th gen=black, my bird = tan) but the dash on the 4th gen is HUGE.

Jason E has the right idea.. Why get rid of it if you like it and get a SS a few years older. You save on depreciation, you save on cost, it will kick just as much A$$... Just look to buy it form a woman or older man who you can really tell never drove it.

Go for it but never expect to do any type of engine swap. I keep thinking of getting a newer v-6 bird, but just hate the engine compartment set-up. Could not say that they are ugly at all.

this is what my philosophy is. ok i'm 17, dunno about all of you, and i need something newer and more dependable, going into college and all. so i will get a 4th gen. then... later in life, when i become financial able to do it right, i will buy a 3rd gen a completly restore it. thats opposed to keeping my thirdgen and putting money into now and not getting anywhere!!!
just my .02 cents

I was pondering a swap, but decided not to. Instead, I'm going to keep my car, buy a 4th gen V8, and then later on, do the swap in my 3rd gen. But I'm keepin my bird.

Huh...

I really like the 3rd gen but to say the fourth gen are ugly? Probably I am a little biased but I actually think about the 4th gen as having a cleaner line.

Anyway I will very soon purchase a 1988-89 GTA so I will have the best of both worlds
