yeah, i've heard that 2.8L's at the crank and no accesories, would have been rated at about 200hp, roughly. So, in 1967 your car would've been a 200hp beast!!!

v8's and 4th gens are rated the same as ours, with the accesories all on, but not at the rear wheels. I had a dyno test from hotrod a few years ago (i think 1998) and they had dynos from a v8 trans am, and a v8 corvette, amongst a bunch of other cars. The T/A came to like 301rwhp, and the vette was like 295 or so at the rear wheels. The stang GT though, get this.... was only at 191 rear wheel hp, during the same year, granted that it was a 97 or 98 but still, 191 hp at the rear wheels that pathetic for a v8 muscle car... especially a modern one, guess that's why their muscle car status was removed. i think the cobra was a little higher though, soemthing like 250 or so, maybe, i think i'll dig that mag out and post those numbers. hehe.

The 4th gen LS1 motor is grossly underrated by GM since a lot of them are getting 300-310rwhp and GM rated them at 320hp at the crank...
My guess is 340-350 hp at the crank stock.

ok just to let you all know all horsepower ratings are with the accessories ON and at the crank/flywheel. They converted to this system back in the 70's when all the manufacturers were advertising different numbers for the same engine.
