well my tranny blew recently, and well i had it rebuilt, but it's an automatic. From what i've been told the v8 and v6 trannies (700R4's) are the same internally, i'm guessing that a (T5) for a v6 and v8 should be too. The difference are supposedly with the bellhousings, and the v8 one won't bolt up to the v6. As one mechanic told me, a v8 tranny benefits only because it has a v8 infront of it, meaning that the tranny won't have to downshift out of O/D to make it up steep hills, unlike a v6 that's constantly shifting between D and O/D.On your manual you might not have this problem though, my guess would be to just have your manual tranny rebuilt. Throw in some performance parts though if you want.

not true... i am using the input shaft off a v8 along with a v8 clutch and it works fine. All they did was swap input shafts, then drill and tap holes to fit the v8 clutch

About the v8 tranny's being the same as v6 tranny's, they're not. The manual v6's came with shorter gear ratio to kinda compensate for the lack of power. Swapping in a tranny from a v8 not only requires changing the bell housing, but it will also affect preformance in the same manner as goin from 3.73's rear end gears to 3.23's. Reason why a v8 wont bolt to a v6 tranny and vice versa is because the 8's are 90 degree motors and the 6's are 60 degree motors. (no not temperature, the angles of the pistons!) hehe... so yea. payce!

Scour the used parts section. You should be able to find a V6 T-5 floating around either here or on Camaroz28.com's for sale section. As far as I know, V6 trannies don't have a history of "blowing" simply because they don't take as much abuse from the V6.

Couldn't the V6 manual-trans bellhousing be redrilled for the V8 trans?

Seek one outta the wrecking yards, much less expensive.
While it's out, check it out, before it goes under the car!
You'll win.
Happy hunting.

I NEED A GOOD 700R4 from the LA area.
Who has one???????????
