4th Gen Springs

Ordered some SLP-Take-off's for 35.00 front and rear, and I'm just makin sure that I can use the rears. I already have the fronts sold for $20.00. So I'm gettin springs with 2 miles on them for $15.00. How hard are they to install?

The rears are easy... you raise the car, and support it on jackstands by the framerails. There's a spot right in front of the rear lower control arms. Then you raise the axle up a bit with a hydraulic jack, and remove the lower shock-to-axle nuts. (You might need a back-up wrench in case the whole nut/bolt starts spinning). Then you slowly lower the axle.. there's a point where there'll be no stress on the lower shock bolt, and the shock bolts will almost "slide" out of the axle. (some light hammer tapping might help.) Lower the axle some more, being careful to not "hang" the axle by the lower shock bolts, and to not put stress on the rear body-to-axle brake hose. Then you reach up, pull the old springs (and insulators) down, put the new springs up with the old insulators, and reverse the deal.

Why didn't you keep the front springs? (Just curious) My springs are probably all shot to hell by now; $35 sounds like a great deal. Oh- wait- those are v8 springs, aren't they? Is that why you're not keeping the fronts?

Yes, they're V8 Springs, plus, I thought that the front suspension stuff wouldn't work on our cars from a 4th gen. Am I wrong? Would 4th gen V6 springs work on my front? If so, the guy I'm selling the v8 front has v6 fronts on...i can get his probably for free.

Fronts wont work.... I have been told this by many people... different sizes and placement and junk like that... Rears work, fronts dont...

Later!

kiztope is correct. I can tell you for sure, having owned and swapped both 3rd gen and 4th gen springs....the 4th gen fronts do not work on a 3rd gen.

Totally different.
