I'm pretty sure the M5 trans guys got the 3.73 rear axle... if you see that car in a junkyard, get the rear!

I have no pics to show you, but when I was looking around at cars not too long ago I found one... Lemme tell ya, that is one hella small engine... It's comical to see it sitting in the same engine bay that houses the 8s... I'm just gunna keep this on the top, if anyone has pictures, do post, I could go for another laugh...

From the picture it seem all that crap around that engine is taking up much of the space

tell ya what, the few times that I've driven the bird, I've had to downshift to 1st to get up a steep 35 mph hill.it's weak, dumping the clutch is funny. nothing happens.

I can go up a hill in 5th, but it isn't the car you're thinking of

Anyways, the reason they had a 4 banger F body is because the early '80s was a VERY different time than now. Back then, they thought gas would be $3.00 by 1990, and GM was having trouble meeting fuel economy requirements for their line. They NEEDED to build 4 cylinder F bodies to offset all the V8s they sold, so they could avoid gas guzzler taxes.

Now, LS1s get the same gas mileage as 2.8s

I have a '82 Camaro 4 cyl. 4 speed. It's been sitting in a barn since '90. Most parts are gone now, but the engine is still all there. I went out Sunday to look at it again, it is pretty Hi-larious. Mine looks worse than that Firebird because mine had NO ac. For some reason, the thing was hard on starters. I broke 2 starters in the year I actually drove it.
