no power

hey guys i have an 87 2.8 ltr and i reneclt re biult the back end on it and it ran fine for a bit i bought some spark plugs to do a little tune up.

this morning my mom drove my car because it was last in the drive. on the way she said that my car died and then after it started it would drive but had no power. when she got home i pulled out the drive and it is driving like it has 10 HP. i too and replaced all the spark plugs making sure to set all gaps at .045 and drove it again and the same thing, i can get a top speed of like 20

any ideas im traveling and really need it runing

Re: no power

Get a fuel pressure tester & test it, the connection is back by the dist. cap. You might be able to rent one from autozone, pressure should be above 35psi.

Re: no power

ok i replacede the fuel filter and still the same thing.
could it be that putting in the K&N air filters with the cheap ram air job is giving the computer too much air?

No....and we need more information, does it start normally, does it idle normally, does it still rev high, does it make any weird noises etc.

Re: no power

yes it starts right up and has a bit of a rough idle then smooths out and idles normal, the orignal noise i thought i heard was just the new airfilters getting in the air ( the old ones were smashed and rusted)

Re: no power

Again, check the fuel presure. I'll bet that's the problem.
