MAX hp from a 1982 2.8 carbureted engine
well i was wonderin how much HPS will be the max of a 2.8 carbureted engine 1982 stock (little mods)and totally modified ??
who can help me ?
who can help me ?
Have more fun keeping it running!!
My S-10 Blazer engine has lasted 211,550, without a thing except timing chain.
HP
Make me laugh!!
Here's what ya do.
I got a 2 1/2" in n out cat convertor
to a 2 1/2" in to TWO 2" out pipes.
Then I opened the distributor.
Put in heavy springs
Kept my advance always open.
Added Accel cap, rotor, plug wires and an Accel super coil. Even indexed the spark plugs. Yes, that little trick helped, too!
Then, I got a K & N air filter, hooked up the air inlet tube to where it should be in my S-10 Blazer (the radiator support. I found the air inlet hole. Attacked it with a drill, opened up lots of air).
I couldn't make the truck go over 65MPH when I first got it.
When I was done, I was able to accelerate up to 5K, increase my top speed by about 20-30 MPH.
I was once pulled over by a cop.
He was cool & gave me the ticket.
But, he wanted to know how I did what I did.
What was that?
Make it move like that! (He tagged me at 50-ish from a standing start in seconds).
I explained. He took down the speed he tagged me at (to like 35mph).
Your gears are the secret.
You have 3.42's the best ratio for these things!
Have fun keeping it running.
Search for the swap answer.
It may even be a V-8
You have a free car, for fun!
