Trans Am 2.8 V6 2BBL according to vin decoder?

hi guys i have a 82 firebird S/E and now i checked my vin in the vin decoder and here is what i got
1G2AX871XCNXXXXX
Trans am special Edition
but its a 2.8V6 2BBL
MAYBE IT WAS ORIGINALLY V8 ???HELP””

If the VIN decoder says it came with a V6 then how could it be a V8 originally?

i'm pretty sure that SE's were written down as being Trans Am Special Editions, although they're not trans am's...persay, i guess. If it was a Trans Am option to have a V6 and call it the SE, but yeah. the Vin decoder will say, Trans Am SE,

The S/E was for those who wanted the looks but not the power (or price) of a T/A. So, what you got was the GFX, and maybe some other T/A touches, but you did indeed get the 2.8.
