maybe trading my AC for HP!!!?
my friend told me that if you pull the AC off an LT-1 you will get a 30 horse gain
now of course, the gain will not be as great with our cars, but how much power do you think i can gain......and where would i find an AC delete bracket???
besides my AC is killing my gas mileage, so i dont use it anyway, i just "pot the top"
hehe

Take the belt off and spin the pully there is NOOOO tension on it it spins free then spin the power steering pump notice how much harder it is. you lise 10 poneys with the AC on
Thank you.
Forgot that.
That was the way they made the (Net) HP rating so high, back before 1971 model years. Less accessories attached (unlike the way it ran in the car, air cleaner, alt. hooked up, etc.-SAE ratings-1972 model years and after).

Prior to 1972 all Hp ratings were done on a dyno with nothing hooked up no water pump no belts nothing. Funny too At my Dads shop theres a 69 camaro with the inline 6, the sticker fan shroud states "140-160hp". A 1976 camaro with the same engine is rated a 120hp because they tested it with smog pump and all the other accesories.
As far as pulling off the ac there will be no difference in power, When the ac is turned off its the same as an idler pully.

IT CAN HELP at the drags.
When you are reaching for that extra .10 off your E.T., anything helps.
Since our belts/pulley set up is a bit cumbersome to remove/install at the strip, it may not be worth the effort.

I took the surpentine belt off my car so i had no belts lol and i drove it let me say this want a extra **** load of HP it felt like it had at least 200HP then i was flooring it and the car you could feel the engine power move the bac of the car down
Keep the AC... If you ever go to resell it it would get you more with AC.... Also just remove the belt at the strip like I do to save the HP? Keep it. See I live in Florida and without it would be to much and I would say forget that car....

Yep; all you'd gain is from less weight being in the car. Would you need an alternator delete bracket? I can't remember how the 87-up's are... I thought they were independent of the p/s pump? The sticker underneath your hood should show you how to route the belt "without a/c".
