Some V6 Options for HP...
Some V6 Options for HP...
Ok I did some work on my car yesterday. Namely by changing the A.I.R. pump into a vacuum pump. By the way it sucks a good 10 PSI of vacuum...
I took out that free flow PCV to the intake tube and ran 1 inch heater hose into the hole of the valve cover. I took the one way valve off the cat air tube and ran it into the intake line of the air pump. After spending a *hit load of time removing the upper, lower intake just so I could get to the left valve cover and remove it. I am going to run the constant PCV to the left side instead. It will work, the line is clear of all the obstructions so it's a matter of drilling the new hole for it.
It took me about 2 hours to convert the air pump into a vacuum pump and I can most deffinately feel a difference in 2nd,3rd and 4th...
Now a question. I have the upper and middle intake off and plan on polishing them both, inside and out. I want the nice clean shiny aluminum to shine through. What should I use to semi port(gasket match mostly) and polish the intakes????

It would be more effective to adapt the 3.4 SPI intake to your car.
I really wnated to, but, I couldn't work around the heroin addict that was helping me with the 3.4 swap at his shop. And I had to sell the 3.4 intake to make up the hugh cost out lay for the 3.4 & such.
Was really bummed, I wanted to keep that 3.4 intake!

The reason why a 3.4 intake can flow better, it is a ONE PIECE DESIGN.
OH YES, the 3.4 is a DEAD GIVE AWAY TO THE SMOG PATROL.
Believe me, they will know!
Can it get past a smog test, I don't know.
My stock 2.8 (even with larger fuel injectors from the 3.4 engine) set up didn't raise an eyebrow and it passed smog.
I won!
I got the powerful 3.4 block under the 2.8 set up!

well I must say that my lower intake(middle I quess?) is starting to look a lot better... Nice clean and shine no crusty a** *hit. I am doing the entire middle top and the sides of it, then to top plenium. I dremel today and I must say that these sanding drums eat through that aluminum like butter...

I polished my 2.8 upper plenum at
STREET & PERFORMANCE, I work there and use to polish, but now i'm a assistant CNC programer.I took out that crappy 2.8 multi emblem and welded the empty circle in then milled it flat and machined 85 Camaro into it. It looks great except for the the air pockets or as the foundry says gas, that is in the plenum itself, there everywhere on the top of it, but the sides are awesome. The GM foundry must have had a sand problems in their molds when they poured the aluminum.

well the middle and upper intakes look much better... I am going to gasket match tommarrow and then out it back togeather... Hopefully it'll light up...
Though I got another turbo book the other day and finally got around to looking at it. It had an article where they took an 85/86? SVO mustang turbo and out it on a 4 banger(I know rice but listen) the engine picked up 75HP without an intercooler! on 6 PSI!. And the torque matched the increase. Now to just have the headers made... Oh well tubing bender here I come!... And I have toi but some steel plate to make a few mounting brackets too... have to relocate a few things.

Well I got it all put back togeather today to find a leaking O-ring... Oh well. I went ahead and polished the 2 A/C brackets and the tops of the plenium bolts they look like black chrome almost. I painted over the intire thing including the brackets with clear gloss paint to keep the steel parts from rusting. Well the plenium looks great, now the throttle body looks way outta place cause it's still cast... Oh well you can't win 'em all right?. I will try to take pics and post them.
well I got the O ring replaced and took it for a spin. Man the difference in 3rd&4th are amazing. Pulls alot more now above 2k. I had a pesky 88-90 F150 tring to race me today on a back road(doing 55-60) so I dropped into 3rd and gunned it and before I knew I shifted into 4th and was doing 95 close to 100... hit 5th and it still pulled... but then the damn gov was staring at me and I let off, he backed off after that.

I know that some of you guys might hate me for this but I got the chrome intake look for my car. I used a 96-99 civic intake, K&N conical air filter and a j-bent pipe. I connected the j-bent pipe to the throttle body then connected the civic intake to that followed by the filter. i connected the vacumm line from the valve cover to one of the side outlets of the intake piping, and i connected the air intake temp. sensor to another outlet. For the temp. sensor you may have to get a sensor relocation kit. It all fits nice and snug. all i need to do is to make a hole in the metal underneath where the stock filter box was sitting on to make it into a cold air intake.
