tranny swapping

Going to do swap my automatic tranny for the manual. I have already located the v-6 tranny and almost everything to go with. Will the rearend be affected with this? How about the speedo? Also the tranny is missing the shifter, would it be better to spend the extra doe and get a short throw shifter or is a stock replacement just fine. How long can i expect to take to complete. Thanx for the help.

It took me nearly 2 months because i wanted everything done right the first time.. get that short throw, the stock sucks i know i have it. The speedo shouldnt be affected, but it depends if u have an electronic or cable driven. if u have an electronic now, make sure the new one has vss on it, or take out the old cable drive and put in a driven gear and VSS..same goes the opposite way. no, no problems with rear...except the torque arm..i couldnt find a mount that worked correctly so i kinda fabbed something up until i get a spohn torque arm..

Is it really worth the change to stick.. I plan to run NOS and I know one day my 86 tranny will need a rebuild again, so I have pondered the idea. My only problem is I havea hurst dual gate shifter and it looks so cool.

Hmm...ya know, i would have probably been better off and cheaper to have just taken out my convertor and gone to a high stall converter... but i dunno...

What does the torque arm have to do with changing the tranny? Actually i'm not sure what the torque arm does.
