questions about by passing the ac condensor

I found the right sized belt one day at auto zone and it seemed like the belt rubes itself at the water pump pulley where it goes straight to the power steering pulley. If you look on the diagram on top of your radiator it shows how to to bypass, but it seems to rub. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hey, i tried that too and a couple times while driving I could smell rubber burning!! I took that belt off quick. I can't figure out why a stock configuration would do that.....

oh well, I guess I just have to get the AC working again by next summer if its going to be on the car.

Well, isn't the bypass only if you have no a/c compressor (the car didn't come with one)? That's how I always read it...
