When I first bought my Firebird, I did the tune up.
That was about 3 years ago.
I've had my cap & rotor off alot lately. The stuff looked fine.
How many miles?
About 10,000 & one engine swap!

The best tip on ignition? MAKE SURE ALL THE PARTS ARE IN TOP TOP SHAPE! You do not want to be stranded as I was TWICE this past week.
PLUS better igniton parts equal better gas milage & performance! I use Accel myself. Have for twenty years. Some like them, some don't it's your call, as any tune up pays benefits past the cost!!! Worn coil also plays havoc on your ignition, too.
IF ya have over 100,000 miles on the stuff (original anything) PLAN on gettting new stuff SOON!!!

Cap and rotor replacement is very easy and it should take half hour at the most... but I really doubt there will be any difference between the dirt cheap and super expensive products, all that matters is that it works, the only time you'll need to upgrade ignition is if you start modding the engine like crazy... I have cheap *** wires, cap, rotor and plugs and I don't have any loss in power over the MSD components I replaced...
