Can you peel out? YES

Do they make good sounding exhausts for v6? Yes, Dynomax

Anyone get 1/4 times on there car? 16.6-est. 17.2 before mods and making a stupid mistake.

Ever beat a v8? Yeah, but his fuel pump went out the next day....so it was unfair.

No problem, we're usually pretty nice to anyone. I just had to warn them before they jumped to conclusions though. Everyone's been pretty touchy.

BTW, Gtech I run about 16.4. Yes, I know it's not fast, but then again, if I wanted fast, I'd get a TTA.

Psss....I'll have a TTA oneday....we're all waiting till Kyle finishes his, then we're making a trip to take it.

I bet a 1995 LT1.. How you ask, well off the line on the road we choose was loose dirt/sand.. He spun big time and I got about easly 75-100 feet in front of him.. The road was not straight, but curvy so he slid in one turn too.. Easy win because I was not over powered like he was... I was in the end tops 1 car a head...

I raced my friend last night. He has a 1991 RS 305 TBI, no mods. We lined up outside his work to drag. We both took off and about 60-75 I had 1/2-3/4 car lengths on him. I was so happy. I mean I know it wasnt much but it was a win for me. I know if he had any mod whatsoever he probably would have had me, but until then, I won!!!

I don't know if you would call this a win or not but I tried to go around like a 91 to 92 p.o.s RS with a 305 tbi auto and I heard him floor it and I dropped a couple gear and inched past and got in the turning lane so I could get to my house. And he followed me! I get mad when people get like this, so I parked my car in front of someone elses house and got out to wait for him. So he skids to a stop and throws open the door. I was getting ready for a rumble! But the guy came out smiling, complimenting my car and asking if I had a 305 tbi too. I told him it was a six with a five speed. Then he started saying, "Oh my car needs a tune up so bad" And yada yada yada. I don't really care. I beat an 8! Kind of..... I thought it was cool!

I just meant his RS was beat up and wasn't taken care of. I didn't mean RS's are P.O.S's. Heck I have one!

Yes they make good exhausts for the 6's.
1/4 dunno not gone lately.
Yes I have beaten many an 8. Taken around 800 from this F'bird in town too. If it's a 305 TBI I'll beat it(mostly stock that is).

Can I peel out... Oh yea
Good sounding exhause, yea but who will hear it over a 20psi turbo spooling up?

1/4 mile times goin to be in the high 11's by next spring.

LOL, its nice to see a v8 guy over here not flaming the smaller V6's

Peel out? Easy. Stand stills? Definatly. Email me and I can send you a great video of me doin a burnout. (Too bad the camera was on the wrong side. Damn open rear.) It's an MPG file about 400k.

1/4 mile time for me bone stock was 17.17@79 with my homey in the car.

I've beat a few V8's. Long as they're 5.0 TBI's or The wack 5.0's in the Stangs.

I love my car!

Peel out? Ya, no problem, can usually get smoke rolling off the tires nicely too. Beat a V8? I've done it, depends on the car tho
I beat my friend's '83 Bird 305 4bbl, but then we all know if you have a 305 4bbl or even a tbi your engine's a bit of a dog anyways...

Peel out? Ha..not if my life depended on it. I can only peel out if the road is wet, I'm on a dirt surface, or I get very very lucky. I've never raced a v-8 except a moderately modified Trans-Am, which smoked me sooo bad it wasn't even funny. But considering my car is all stock except a K&N and 7mm coper-core spark plug wires, it's not surprising. Just wait another month or two..I'm gonna have an 80's series K&N on this baby and hopefully a cold air induction system soon after. Then maybe I'l be able to list some more impressive victories. Oh, and my best 0-60 (before a replaced tranny mount, cleaned air filter, and new spark plug wires) was around 8.9 seconds. That was going through 1>2>Drive>Overdrive.

I have to step in to defend the 305 and it's potential. A 305 can put out a considerable ammount of power and it shouldn't get beaten by a V6 stock for stock... I really don't have a concept of what a stock 305 is like because I keep finding little mods on my car that the previous owner did... manifold, carb and exhaust were all modified/replaced and I'm starting to think some internals might have been changed in the process...

I can smoke 100% of the imports on campus here and the only thing that I know for sure would beat me is a 2001 350 Camaro with aftermarket exhaust...

I don't have quarter mile times yet, but my car is far from a dog...

I didn't say the 305 was a dog, but the fact is if its stock, or even with headers My 3.1 WILL beat it. This kid in town with a red F'bird finally got headers thinking that will get him past me. Going down the highway at 55 he pulls up next and tries to pass... I say ohhhhh no I have beaten ya before(from stand still both racing) and I'll beat ya again. It was harder I'll admit but I still won after shifting to 3rd and jumping almost a full car length ahead from just that. I then proceeded to shift at 5500 and walked him like a dog(no offense). The L03 305 TBI and the carbed version before hand are not that much to talk about.

Can they be made to run?, yeah sure anything can bemade to run. But sadly enough the only thing they have more then the 6 stock is some toruqe that goes away after 2500 RPMS....

I was writing in response to 89-28GP who did in fact stat that LG4 and L03's were dogs... I guess I'll have to mod it just for the "challenge" of making a fast LG4

I can do most of the things you asked. I've beaten many V8's including some IROC's 5.7's with nitrous, many Mustangs with nitrous and blowers and all that other stuff including some motorcycle's.

Kyle, any updates on your quest to go fast?

I like to be a little secretive, after I get some tags on it and get some results I will let everyone know. But for now All I havbe down is made plans and bought some parts. Nothing is actually on the car yet. Being in college sucks.

I've had my 86 Sport Coupe down the 1/4 one time. I pulled a 17.5 & 78mph. This was on the 156k mile motor with a very bad exhaust leak (I could spin the donut under the passenger side exhaust manifold ), all of my stereo equipment and a horrible bog off the line. I'm not making excuses, just explaining the situation. I'm going to take it back and get there earlier so I can get a couple runs in. I really think that with a good launch, the fixed exaust and less weight I can easily turn 16s on a stock 2.8. This car feels unusually strong compared to the many other 2.8s I've driven/owned. I don't know why, but I love it.

Anyway, I'll post my times after I run.

The amount of burnout depends on your tires, too. I just bought new Firehawk GTAs (sweet tires), and from a dead stop w/o powerbraking I can chirp the RR. Less sticky tires would allow me to do more. I CAN however smoke the RR if I launch at 2200 RPM...I can get rubber almost all the way through 1st gear!!! (Only tried that once, caught by 5200RPM).

As for the sound, in some ways it sounds meaner than the '97, and both have stock exhausts. There's no mistaking the LT-1 when stepped on, but from idle to 2,000 RPMs the little RS has a nice rumble The LT-1 is overall a smoother, much mellower tone.

As for driving them, I like the RS BETTER in some ways. Its a more relaxed driving experience, easier to get in and out of, and lets face it...third gen t-tops are WAY nicer than fourth gens...way larger.

I just took the RS out yesterday for the 1st time in 3 weeks (it was on hiatus after a 1,000 mile road trip), and other than the lack of grunt, I like it every bit as much as a new one

Sure, some weekend. Thought since I dont have plates for it because I cant have it inspected you will have to make a Trip to Wheelersburg OH. If you want to you can come down and um we can goof off in a small country town for a bit.

86 Trans Am w/ built 355TPI with SLP goodies and too much other stuff to List. One sweet *** car, wish I would have had a good enough Job to pay insurance on three cars so I could keep it, but for a 89 Turbo Trans Am w/ Low miles, I think I made the right choice!
