What speed does everyone idle?

I notice my car idles around 750 but at certain times it drops to below 500 and then jumps back. I want to know this because I'm not sure if this is right.

yep 750 is right, if your idle is dropping below 500 and then bouncing back up to 800 when you do hard stops with the A/C on then you need a new IAC because yours is sluggish and it's not opening fast enough. Believe me it happen to me, I didn't see the worning signs then DEATH, everytime I hit the brakes in traffic it would die.

Between 600 & 800, depending on the car's mood

Hey! Mine does that too! It usually sits at around 750 and sometimes it will drop down to the 500 and sometimes die! It sucks! I still want to know what causes this. And it's not when I stop, sometimes you just start up the car and it can't hold the idle high enough.

My 92 RS 3.2L w/5speed idles at the 10 mark. It would somtimes dip and the engine would die. Afterwards I couldn't start it for about 10 min. So this last weekend I swaped the ECM and life is back to normal no diping idle, but still at the 10mark.

87Camaro, throw one on! It's not hard at all... the hardest part is leading the tach wires thru the firewall- you'll probably have to drill. Drill from underneath the dash "out" to the engine compartment. You might get lucky and have a factory "plug" in the firewall- knock it out with a punch. The plug's located to the driver's side of the brake booster on the firewall. The next hardest part is finding a spot to mount the tach where it looks good (and can be read easily). Hookup is simple. Your car's tach wire is the black/white wire on the gray connector on your spark coil.

I assume I idle at 750 or so.
I do not know as my tach is not hooked up yet. I have a gauge cluster to install.
Mine idles so smooth after I've fixed ALL vacuum line breaks (EVERY SINGLE LAST ONE OF THEM, SEEK AND YE SHALL FIND THEM!!) and swapped out a bad ICM. I have also cleaned the Idle control sensor in the throttle body, too.
All those things contribute.
BUT
BUT
BUT
Cheapest fix & BEST FREE EFFORT was the vacuum lines! Use 5/16" & 1/4" windshield wiper hose for repairs.
I'll bet if ya check codes, you'll see malfunctions, too.
I eliminated my malfunction codes by repairng vacuum leaks. Saved me over $75 (from buying another MAS sensor!)! Codes went away! Super smooth idle now! Clear computer after you think you solved all the vacuum leaks and check codes again. I think you'll have none!

My tachometer is there...but it's faulty. It says I idle at about 1400, with a normal operating temp engine..
