dumb Q. but what does it mean to run lean or rich??

dumb Q. but what does it mean to run lean or rich??

the title explains it exactly, what does it mean to run lean or rich?? and what is better to run on? does it mean the air flow? please enlighten me so i dont have tog ive myself head aches trying to figure it out, thanks

P.S. if i have MPFI is it good to run lean or rich?

"stoichiometric" air/fuel ratio = 14.7:1.

Running "rich" means there's more fuel in the air/fuel mix. Running lean means there's less fuel. For power, it's better to run a bit lean than rich. For fuel injection, nothing needs to be changed. You can change the fuel presure regulator (on the fuel rail) to be higher or lower. The higher the pressure is the higher the air/fuel ratio.
