you could always do what I will, 3.4 heads, gmpp 3.4 cam, new timing set, etc, etc.

Oh yeah, a turbo might not hurt either

I thought the 3.1 or the 3.4 was the 2.8 bored or strocked? I don't know.

there all the same egine just each one is a little bigger, best bet is just get a 3.4 from junk yard, rebuild and bore that, its all the same engine so everything on the engine works on any of the 3.
and then ou can take your time, do it right, and still be able too drive your car till its ready, and do an easy 4 hr swap.

Yes the 2.8 is the same block as the 3.1, the 3.1 is stroked. the 3.4 is a different block but shares the same crank, but different cam. The 3.4 cam works in all blocks and it is the better cam. Bore on a 2.8 and 3.1 is 3.5" and can only be done .06 over I Think. Best bet if you have a 2.8 is just to get a 3.4, TALK TO KED85.

Bore it 40 over, mill the heads, toss in forged pistons and the n100HP of NOS.

When a 2.8 is bored .030 you gain 3 ci.You won't really notice anything gains. You do get some wierd looks when someone ask's what you have under the hood and your reply is a bored .030 2.8

Yeah; on our motors, boring is more of a clean-up-the-holes job...
