changed my fuel filter
Changed my fuel filter this weekend, and I have to say my car has never run this good. When I get into those higher RPM's I can totally tell a difference. I got it up to 105 with NO problem-which was a first. Before I never would get it up to 100-started shakin too bad. I really didn't expect to notice this much of a change-really impressed. Anybody else notice any thing this good when you changed your fuel filter?

Hell yeah; nobody ever thinks to change that poor little filter back there. That filter you pulled might've been the second one your car ever saw!

On the under side of the car towards the fuel tank on the driver's side. Jack up the rear driver's side and go under just before the rear wheel and you should find it.
Also rember to disconect the fuel pump and crank the car a couple of times to get ride of the presure. There is a conection just above the rear dif. that you want to disconect. It's the only one there.
Keep a metal pan under the fuel filter , not plastic. The gas will eat the lastic up and weld it to the ground. You are going to spill a little gas. It will just be a trickle unless that filter is really clog. Then all of the gas that is backed up will come out. I used an old pot that isn't used for cooking any more and mine filled up about 1/4 of the way. Mine filter cloged like a big dog.

heelll yeaa, i got my fuel filter and fuel pump replaced at the same time "long story but some of you know it" and i guarantee you that that fuel filter was never changed on my car, if not at least 1 time like ages ago because my car at idle is so much smoother feeling, and i get really good acceleration becuase the gas can acually get to the engine now! the pump sounds really strong " now i know what a healthy pump one sounds like tomP

Ok, to disconnect the fuel pump you need to disconnect somthing on top of the rear differential? Then I crank the car a couple of times and that will depressurize the fuel lines. Then you can remove the filter and replace it with the new one. Put everything back together and that's it? Somebody tell me if I'm forgetting something. Thanks

I didn't do any of that-I released pressure from the schrader valve (like a valve stem behind the Throttle Body-works like a valve stem too) So, I pressed it and the fuel came out-no engine starting necessary. Didn't disconnect the fuel pump either-just unscrewed the old filter-put the new one on-btw-make sure the flow is the right way

Yeah but doesn't it make one hell of mess to empty the line at the schrader valve?
The fuel pump conection is easy to get to once the car is jacked up and it only takes a few mintues to crank the fuel out. Just make sure you lower the car before starting it, for safty reasons. Some times thier is enough fuel in line to run the car for 30 - 60 secounds. Once it dies the line is empty.

Guys, honestly, you don't NEED to relieve the fuel pressure before removing the filter. Just crack the lines and then use a rag as you disconnect it. YES, fuel will spill out...it's kinda unavoidable.
Oh, and if your car has been sitting a few hours, then there is little or no fuel pressure. Maybe 10-15 psi max.
