posi trac
I know this should prabably be posted in the "transmisson , drivetrain" but I just feel more comfortable talking to my V6 brothers about it .
I have heard of many people installing SLP'S posi limited slip diff. I have been thinking about doing this .However , my friends 99 camaro auto with will not peelout , not even chirp the tires a little .He says its b/c of the limited slip . I have also driven a 99Z28 and had it to the floor and would not peel out .The only way it even chirped the tires a little was when the salesman did a neutral/drop
Is this true what I have hear is the limited slip wont let you peal out ? But it seems if so many people are putting in on there cars it does peelout ?
Thanx as always for your help and knowledge guys . Wayne
...and by the way for you guys who haev this set-up how you like it ?

His engine's just not powerful enough to break his rear tires loose. The only thing the posi's making his car do is spin both rear tires at once. So instead of torque hitting one tire (and making it peel out), the same torque's spread over two tires. It's almost as if you had a non-posi car with one 3 foot wide tire on the rear right wheel!
The salesman did a neutral drop?? Man, remind me never to buy a car from that place!

No joke man , hehe
If I were really thinking about buying that car , I would have not . The salesman must have been a complete dumb@ss ! lol ...So if I had enough power in my car would the limited slip posi let my tires spin and peal out ? ...Wayne

you'll just need hella horsepower to open up the rear end on a limited slip car. A manual tranny will help a lot also, just dump that clutch, with an auto u just need power. I can't think of why a new T/A or SS camaro couldn't burn out although theyv'e got posi, my friends 90' T/A with a TPI 305 would do a posi burn out, although my other friends 66' Fairlane with a built 351 has trouble with a burnout, it will chirp though, but on slicks it can turn 12's. lol. Anywayz, that's just how it goes, uwanna burn with posi (which goes against installing posi) then build the hp to do it.

Man, who cares about burnouts?! I care about wasting my hard earned money on tires because only one is bad! I really need a posi unit. How much do they cost?

Actually I very seldom do it . But I think most people would agree with me here that they like to do them once in awhile
