Here in my area last week, it was down to .99 at ONE station, the rest were $1.09. Now it's up to $1.19.

I have always wondered this guys , so maybe one of ya'll has some answers . Bad gas , when you get it what kinda damages does this do ? No not that kinda gas guys . Im talking petro ! Not gas from taco bell Are the injectors ,damgaged motor shot ? .My dad had an 87 buick lesabre and this happend to him .I was to young at the time to remember what happed . I was wondering what would happen to our cars or has anyone had this problem on here ?
Wayne
Billy,I will be more carefull about posting non tech .But I really would like to see a board where we can all just shoot the $h*t ..and just for us V6ers . I will be glad to help you Billy or anyone else who thinks this is possible .Sure ,most of us o fight sometims but much more often do we have fun .I think we'd just have a good time if we had a board where we can just shoot the $h*t about whatever you know .
I appologize again Billy , for giving you a hard time .

I feel like a chump
I paid $1.34 for mid grade 87 on monday morning, filled the Camaro and the truck up $40. Went to work came home and the gas was changed to $1.24 mid grade. Today its $1.18.

As far as bad gas goes we get alot of water in the gas here in Colorado and it makes the fuel economy drop and pings like a motha under med load.

1.47 Here in southern NY (Binghamton during fall semester) back home in Ithaca it's 1.56. I only put in 93 just cause it runs JUst a little bit better. 87 is down to 1.35 I think.

Edit: You should be fine if you put some of that gas drying (antifreeze?) stuff in every once in a while. It just makes the car run like poo w/ wet gas... It's a good winter prep thing to do.

I've been paying $1.06 for 87 the last week or so. I swear the **** is watered down though, b/c I'm getting sh!tty gas milage and I'm not even driving it hard and I've been driving the speed limit b/c cops have been out like crazy.

I never thought of hot-tanking a manifold... but when a machine shop "hot-tanks" an engine block, it's usually done before a rebuild. The bare engine block gets put in a bath of hot solvents to get the thing clean. Hot-tanking destroys camshaft bearings, so they must be replaced after a hot-tank. But it cleans up the inside of the block from oil deposits/sludge/etc.

I think bad gas just clogs injectors, dirties the exhaust (oxy sensor, cat, and manifolds), and dirties the intake (through the EGR). Bad gas might also cause detonation due to a sub-standard octane rating, and that can do more damage. If you run a lower octane than recommended, the timing should be retarded to prevent detonation. Of course, retard the timing too far, and the car won't run correctly!

NJ still does that damn oxygenated gas in the winter... those MTBE's don't burn, they go right out the exhaust pipe, and sit on the ground. Besides that; my gas mileage goes to hell. I don't see how oxygenated gas runs cleaner; I use more of it to get where I'm going.

I pay around $1.34 for 91 octane. It seems like people in Cali are paying a little more for gas.

1.07 for 87
1.15 plus
and I don't know about premium

Ok, to take a spin off that "bad gas" topic, I'd like to ask a question I've been wondering for a long time now... Does the pump you get your gas from make a difference? Take me for example, I use Wawa gas, simply because it is by far the cheapest gas around (by at least 15 cents in the summer time)... Hess is just about the same now (cause of the winter I assume). So I'm wondering if there is a 'better' company to buy gas from? I've heard about this 'Chevron with Techron' crap, but I'm not sure I wanna buy into it... the rumor around here is that Wawa gas it so cheap because they put absolutly nothing in it, no chemicals no nothing, so your gas milage goes down a little, but it's still cheaper...

I've seen some nice muscle cars filling up at Wawa, some built huge *** big block Camaro filled up there once, I know that, so it makes me feel a little better... But does anyone have any actual proof that Hess gas is better than Mobil is better than Wawa is better than Sunoco, Shell, Russo, ect.?

ok, purpose for hot tanking the intakes, just look in there, all that nasty crap from the egr & the pcv. kinda makes it not worth polishing the manifolds. I'll just gasket match after cleaning. might polish to keep the soot from clinging too much but don't know.

gas price: went to K-town this weekend, pilot had the cheapest @ $1.08, still 1.12 up here.
