Loving the new 3.4

I finally got my 89 bird back today. After the shop was suppose to give it to me friday I got it today. I must say it pulls like a freight train! Its a very nice swap very clean too. Now time to fix my rattling exhaust with a Hooker Aerochamber to make it sound clean. If anyone wants to make this swap ask KED85 about it he helped me understand it alot better and now I'm happier than H*** with the new 3.4.

UNLESS it's a used running engine.
Then just drive it!
Wayne, with modern tech oils/fluids, your statement is not totally true.
One should ALWAYS maintain their investments.
Including a recent rebuilt engine.
Wayne, remove a zero, from your milage figure and you are pretty much spot right on, then.

Josh, I am so peaked for you!
Once you have it dialed in and you are used to the ride, only make your foundation, then, better.
I am so THRILLED it has worked out so well, so far.
You ENJOY EVERY BURNOUT AND SMILE.
You have earned it.
Be respectful of the new toy!
How often are you, now, NOT DOWNSHIFTING.
Isn't the amount of torque, wonderful!!!
A stunning tranformation, isn't it?
The best part, no one can ever tell, what was done under the hood (2.8-3.4 swap), because it looks identical to what was once there!
Sneaky sleeper, at it's best.
And kinda disappointing, too.
No flash under the hood visually, but, man, can you now scoot!

theres no way to tell the size difference. Same intake and accesories except for my shiny new water pump lol and i have like 60 lbs oil pressure instead of my old 30 haha that couldnt be good. KED85 my exhaust is really messed up. Somethign is rattling in it. Do u think a Hooker Aerochamber would sound good will dual 2.5 inch tips? But man i got so much more torque now its so nice. For some reason I cant get a 2nd gear scratch out and I could with my 2.8 any ideas KED? and whats my redline on this new engine?
Thanx

blackbird... one possibility is that your new engine makes all it's power down low... the 2.8 is a rev machine...

I am just finding that out now. I'm finally getting my 2.8 back up to speed. My new Accel coil helped out, as well as fixing some more vacuum leaks and finding a loose spark plug (oops )

Now all I need is a CTS, TPS, IAC, O2 and a new exhaust and I'll be tearing it up!

BTW! The ATF in the oil thing -really- works! I tried it, and my engine is now -much- quieter.

I'll bet you'll be very pleased at the Hooker muffler.
Do you have a pic of that muffler?
Perhaps I have that on my ride, now. My muffler is dual tip (1 per side). I do enjoy the sound of it. Sounds proper not ratty ike my Flowmaster on my S-10 Blazer.
3.4, 25K $700
BUY IT!!!
I paid $800 for my 40K motor.
All worth it, too.
Honest guys, this swap is such a great deal all around.
The idea is to take everything you've given your car and make it better with a larger motor.
The beauty is,
Everything swaps, so no effort/parts are wasted.
No more 2nd chirp?
You'll figure it out!!
Glad you enjoy the ride and new power.
70 MPH is now effortless, isn't it?

I'm sure same speed.
Let us know.
I'm sure with my 85 MPH speedo, I've been over 100mph.
Tires have held me back (worn & old).
Plus, I like the car, I know it can do fast times quite well.

Once it dries up outside from the rain I'll go do a 0-60 time with a friend and do the best of 3 launches since I havea 5 speed.
