any mods you can think of (other than nitrous) 3.4L block, ported 3.4L heads, intake, full exhaust, cam, etc. I dont really wanna swing over to forced induction on this topic yet. Lets try to keep it N/A for a while please.

GM pumped out 225 HP & 220 Ft Lb torque on the 3.4 they built to pace the 1990 Indy 500 in a Baretta.
The parts were
Crower part number X-8334 w/.459 on intake & .483 on exhaust, 30* of overlap. They used Isky solid lifters #202H & Crane full roller rockers (#25752-12) & HD pushrods. The springs in the Gen 2 head were of Isky, at 110 foot lbs. spring rate
GM Raceshop also created a special manifold using the Corvette stock sized throttle body on a modified Corvette/Camaro Plenum chamber.
Custom tuned headers featuring 1 5/8" cold rolled tube, 27" primaries & 2 1/2" collectors.
The compression ratio was 10.5

The aluminum engine block # 10051141 was opened to 92mm bore & 84mm stroke.
As a final FYI, the cast aluminum pistons were fly cut to clear the valves at .100 inch clearance.
From the Hot Rod mag article May 1990.

Hey Bitchin,
I THINK I've read your response correctly.
Let me type the info from the article to help ya.
It's ALL CUSTOM!
Intake manifold for the Baretta (E-W Engine!)A production intake manifold was modified by using 1 1/4 x 2" runners w/a 6 1/2" runner length through the manifold.
Additional mods were made on either side to clear the Crane Roller Rockers.
Note the cutom made stainless steel fuel rails.
The HAND BUILT Plenum is SIMILAR to the Corvette Plenum (350/305 FI engines of the 80's).
IT WAS DESIGNED FOR MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE WITHIN THE AVAILABLE PACKAGING SPACE.
Meaning, with the Baretta hood closed, this engine fits.
Info from the Hot Rod article & designed by Chevrolet Raceshop.
PS Add NOS for the same results!

Karl,

Yeah NOS is an easy and cost effective way of adding power, but I have all ways been the type of guy who likes to build stuff.

I once thought about taking the Plenum from a TPI and custom fabing some runners for it that claer everything. then finding a way to either enlarge the throttle body or finding a way to use a larger throttle body from a different car. I might have a new job soon. Which will make it easier to get a secound '92 RS to play with. The only problems I can see so far is the linkage and air cond. braket. I should be able to figure some thing out though.

Every time I look at the stock Plenum it just doesn't look like it could hold that air and if you could get more air in there it would make a big difference with the air ducting setup I have (dual snorkle with the bottom of the air boxes cut off).

PS. i was a little sleepy when I typed my last post. Opppss, but the info haleped give me some ideas thou.

according to http://www.users.qwest.net/~racing2win/mild2wld.htm they said that gm said "Quoting GM Motorsports Technology Group
"Production V6/60 (FIERO) blocks are suitable for high-performance street use, off-roading and limited competition applications. Production V6/60 (FIERO) blocks used in SCORE/HDRA off-road racing routinely produce over 270 horsepower...""
