Depends on how I am driving. If it's just around town and I don't want to chew a lot of gas I go by the shift light. If I'm kicking it in the *** I shift a about 3K for 1st. and secound, It doesn't seem to pull much after that. 3rd I shift 3500, and forth seems to pull hard all way to 5K. I haven't taken forth passed the 5K mark becuase I'm a big chiken and don't want to red line it.

at WOT,
the car shifts outta first gear at about 6k flat, gives about 40mph, second gear moves until 75, when i let the car shift itself, it will do so at about 5100rpm, never held it all the way through third, could only pull about 4900rpm though, which should have been about 115mph, just about where the speed limit was...plus there was antoher gear and a lot of RPM to go.

I've got an auto, and my tach is bad..but I'll shift around using 1>2>Drive sometimes, and I can guesstimate pretty close at what RPMs I'm coming up on by the feel.. I give it a long time before shifting out of 2nd, I let it ride up to around 4800. I dunno about you guys, but I pull REALLY sluggish in low RPM's in 2nd gear but the car screams when it goes into the real high RPM's. It's high-rev happy I suppose. This is true for first gear too...it gets a real hard pull around 3500-4000. Running bone stock too except the air filter & spark plug wires..as if those really count anyways. ;p

just for shlts and giggles I will throw the shift mph for my rx7 in here
this is with 4.10 rear end gear and 205/60/15 tires

shift at around 7600-9000 depending on how I feel

but with a shift point of 7600 rpms the mph are listed as
1st>2nd at 36
2nd>3rd at 65
3rd>4th at 94
4th>5th at 125

these are kind a little rought so you might have to give -/+4mph or so

but kinda a shock for having 4.10 rear end. what gear is it you guys are running
cause from what I see so far it looks like even though I have a really low rear end gear I shift at about the same time you guys do
you think I should put a 4.30 rear or a 4.88?

acceleration
1-2 15mph
2-3 25mph
3-4 45mph
4-5 50mph

cruise
2-3 24-25mph
3-4 32-45mph
4-5 45-50mph

outta first @ 5100 (evil tranny issues, I won't even go into it)
outta second @ 6000 ish(sometimes I hit the rev limiter) @ about 70-75
outta third @ 5800 ish @ about 115
then I run into a brick wall acceleration wise and can't go any faster.
