The T-pipe is gone

removed it last night. still had the pass exhaust manifold on it.Didn't want to brek/cut the studs. Ended up dremel tooling off the POS cat conv. The thing was allready gutted, good thing I found out now instead of e-check. Oh well, I'll be doing all new exhaust now. I still havn't drop the oil pan, maybe nxt week. Anyone here relocate the trans cooling lines? I will be movong mine out of the way to clear the turbo & exhaust pipe. Also, with just the short block in it now, the front just bounces up & down like a jello jiggler. Does this mean the struts are bad, or there's just no weight on them to dampen correctly?

Yeah the struts are shoot. Once you get the car bouncing it should stop with in 1 - 1 1/2 bounces. Any more then that and they need to be replaced.

Just finished cleaning the valve covers. They're actually a mettalic silver/metal color. I guess years of protective grime ws good for them. Anyone here ever paint them, or get them chromed? not looking at aftermarket covers yet, but will price the covers at the harley shop.

edit: got the pass side exhaust manifold off. WTF is with putting a casting # in the inside middle runner for? will make that much more work smoothing it out.

Transmission lines

Buy a roll of line, and make new lines and run them along the frame out of the way(or anywheres for that matter as long as you make it too the Rad your fine). I am sure it would work. I doubt anywone here has had a reason to move there transmission lines

Yeah, I painted my 2.8 Blazer ones.
They were black.
You're right, my Firebird covers are the same as what you have.
The ones I got from the 3.4 were black, tho.
IF ya remove paint (I did by parts washer, constantly & media blasting) the chrome cost may be lower.
Paint them or just clean.
Hot tip is to get Fiero ones!!
I wish I knew that when I did my engine swap!

fiero valve covers look "pimp" well, yeh, kinda. the look really cool cause of the red and silver combination, and if you could get a fiero plenum that'd be pretty sweet also.

Hey Bitchin,
The V-6 Fiero engine had cast aluminum "red" highlighted valve covers.
I am so pissed that I did not install some on my 3.4 ride when it was apart.
I did not know, MYSELF, until I saw a set at a wrecking yard. Later on.
They do look very nice, it's a nice touch!

Am I correct in assuming the Fiero Valve covers and plenum will fit a 3.1L . I no knowlege of Fieros. I'm assuming they have a 2.8, 3.1 or 3.4. Is this correct?

The covers will fit. as for the intake, it should. I've seen pics of the upper intake on e-bay, & the throttlebody neck is extended & offset to the right.

The intake will "Fit" (it is from a 60* engine design), but it will not work correctly with the F body engine bay.
Settle on the valve covers.
I am, shortly.
I plan on grabbing several sets if I can. I do have 2 60* engine cars. Maybe one day, three.

I prefer Joe's idea (about bending new lines), but you could probably cut the old steel ones out, and run hose instead. Just make sure the hose is meant to carry oil... problem with using hose is, though, on a long run, what happens if the hose cuts (or melts on the exhaust)? You'd pump all your trans fluid out. That wouldn't happen with a metal line.

Actually, you might be able to re-bend your existing lines with just a tubing bender.

ok, lets see if i remember my origonal response:

I didn't think about doing the trans hose thing, but would trust new bent lines more. Also I plan to get some sheet metal and fab some heat sheilding, like those starter sheilds.
