Why are the birds hard to start when raining/after it has rain..
Every time after it rains or when i go start the car while its raining, it always takes about 4 to 5 turns before it starts. and after it starts you hear a hmmmm sound in intervals ???

I was thinking the same thing... bad ignition wires, or possibly a loose (or cracked) distributor cap. It's not a Firebird thing... my '86 always starts up right away.
Check too for a bad cowl-to-hood weatherstrip. This is the weatherstrip along the back of your hood, by the windshield. Maybe water's dripping in there and soaking your distributor.
The humming noise is your fuel pump re-priming. Is your ignition timing okay?

How about moister in the Coil. G/F brother has a car will start perfect everytime when it is dry but as soon as it rains it hates starting. He found out it was moister building up in the coil. Replaced the coil fix, problem was ended.
As coils age (heat/usage, etc) they start to fail, mostly during rain day.
Extra moisture swells something (kinda like those sticky doors on rainy days), loose power, it seems.
My old coil, just wore out.
Called it total ignition failure.
Yours is close, now.
Rebuild everything, coil, distributor, plug wires.
Before you're Wife is stranded at an intersection (like what happened to my PREGNANT WIFE in my Firebird).

That is exactly the same stuff happening to me. Except mine will start normal and start running like crap when it warms up. After I stop somewhere long enough for it to cool down It would usually run like a champ the rest of the day. Lately though that trick won't work and the car barely has enouch power to idle. Getting it to move takes a miracle. I don't have a wife but I myself spent plenty of time in the middle of a couple intersections the other day. Guess I better go ahead and get that blaster coil I wanted and see if that helps.

Oh yeah, I looked at the coil about a week ago and it had a small crack in it.
Thanks for the info, Joe... I never thought about that. I guess his coil had a crack in it or something, eh?
