I'm wondering how much Oil i should put in the car after i drain the old crap and put the new filter on, I was thinking 5L bottle of High Mileage Synthetic oil but idk how much the capacity is on the car seeing that I don't have a owner's manual.... Engine Size is 2.8l

A 5 quart bottle is more than enough with an AC Delco filter you can pick everything up at walmart cheaper than the part's store.

Re: Looking to do a Oil Change but don't have specs
I just got the 5 quart protech oil change, and I had a purolator filter already which I heard are pretty good filters. Supposedly better quality than fram. The protech was $11.97 if I remember correctly for the 10w-30. I'd definitely go to wal-mart. Lol

I got my hands on a Chilton's manual that was sitting downstairs, and a Hayne's manual too. 3.8L it takes on the 2.8l 1988 Camaro...

buy 5 quarts. put 4 in, start engine, let idle for about 30 seconds, turn engine off, pull dipstick, wipe dipstick, re-check oil level, then add accordingly. thats all u gotta do lol. and iv heard fram filters is absolute junk, i personally dont have the proof. but others do, and its very convinsing.

Re: Looking to do a Oil Change but don't have specs
Probably the best researched oil filter info on the web, albiet a little old now:
http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oil...reference.html
Scroll right on down to the fram section if you want to see how putting a fram on is almost like running with no filter at all. I would re-use a good filter before using a new fram.
Fram is garbage and always has been.. I bought conventional Castrol and a Bosch (purolator pure1) Filter at AZ for like $13, HM Castrol and the same high quality filter was like $15... IDK why Walmart has the reputation of having the lowest price..I would rather give my cash to any other business.
I say do the job right, with quality parts, or don't do it at all...

Re: Looking to do a Oil Change but don't have specs
Mine doesn't hold the whole 5 quarts, that's why I said it's more than enough. Like other members said I add 4 quarts start it up to let the filter absorb some oil then I check the fill line and add some of the remaining quart till it's at the top of the fill line. The Delco filter takes a tad bit more oil than the cheapo fram which I hate so much. I ran a fram in my old engine and always got a knock on start up if I didn't drive it for a few days because it didn't have an anti drain back valve. I will always get the Delco oil filter for my engine and they are the same price as fram.

Walmart is cheaper in my area....parts stores around my area charge 3+ more dollars for the same oil I use. I'm not a big fan of wally world either but considering it's right down the street and I can save a few bucks I say eh what the heck

Re: Looking to do a Oil Change but don't have specs
I aways use K+N filters.. But theres no way i can put in 5 qts unless i get a bigger pan. no matter what the filter is. 4.5 qts. tops unless you wana start blowing seals out..mainly the oil pressure sensor first! And then deal with constant oil leaks.
Just my opinion though

I'm not saying I add the whole 5 quarts man. I save whats left towards my next oil change.

Re: Looking to do a Oil Change but don't have specs
Sorry I didnt mean it in a bad way.
I just put too much in mine when i first got it in 2002. I blew a ton of oil by the oil pre. sending unit. And it wouldnt shift into OD normal. But i was young and just put in what what a buddy told me.

Re: Looking to do a Oil Change but don't have specs
With the AC Delco PF-47 filter 4 quarts, with the larger AC Delco PF-52, (or similar) filter 4.5 quarts.
