Re: in the same position?

sorry !!! , just don't beat them down to make them lower. you might want to get that coolant removed and wipe a little oil on the cylinder wall.

Re: in the same position?

I agree wipe down the cylinder walls and try to get any pieces of gasket out that you may have gotten in there. Get all that gunk outta the lifters and that area, thats probly just from some one not changing the oil over time. And id definitly change your oil or at least make sure non of that anit freeze made its way past your rings and when into the engine oil.

Dont worrie theres nothing wrong with your pistons and where there at in the cylinder. There offset and none of those are the same, if the other head was off youd see that there are matching pistons in relation to where they are in the cylinder but the difference is what stroke there on. Example is cy,# 1 and 4 will be at top dead center at the same time but they will not be on the same compression stroke. Only one is gonna fire at a time.

Re: in the same position?

I cant know if you can see it but the front left #1 and the middle right side #4 are at the same place in the cylinder... understand, there just off set a little. Be carful at letting anything fall into the head that you didnt take off, the intake ports, and be carful arround that dizzy opening. You dont wana drop stuff in there, my engine was completly covered unless i took a pic, but when working i covered every hole there was.

Re: in the same position?

Its a 4 stroke motor, intake, compression, power, exhaust.
When #1 is at tdc, it might been on the begining of the power stroke.
While at the same time #4 will be at the begining of the intake stroke.
Also one of those piston is going up when the other is going down.
That why the cam turns at half the crank speed.

Re: in the same position?

If you are going to have it apart for any length of time, I also suggest a light coat of oil on the cylinders, and put the lifters in some oil as well, engine parts can rust if they sit out long enough without oil on them.
And that is perfectly normal, if your pistons weren't where they would supposed to be...you would know, lol....
