long lost pic of a 60* V6 race engine
long lost pic of a 60* V6 engine used for midget racing it was told, it was a display engine a member of the V6 section had bought then never heard from again, rumor has it opening a time portal
If I remember correct it was a 3.2 for some reason, not a 3.4 or bigger.
It was a very old thread, Ive never been able to find again, and ive been searching my computer for years to find these pics again as I never delete anything and just came across them today.
only other thing I member was it was empty on the inside.

Yep, I have that picture as well.
I would love to see more.
I didn't know any back story or anything else, just a picture of a 660 that I liked.

Re: long lost pic of a 60* V6 race engine
at 3.2L its prolly an gmpp aluminum block as they cant be bored over 3.2L
i have a gmpp aluminum block but i need to have 2 sleeves made for it to make it useable
intake looks something similar to what i built a few years back mine has much shorter runers with injectors in the stock locations, ontop it has a big open box plenum and was setup for a 75mm round throttle body

u can get more displacement out of them with an offset ground crank , i looked into it when i picked up my gmpp block but i belive the most we could get out of it was something like 3.34L safley anyways if i didnt run boost on it it may have been safe to get 3.4L from the block

Re: long lost pic of a 60* V6 race engine
a 3.1 bored .060 over is 3206cc... that's probably how they got to 3.2.
definitely a neat/effective intake. wonder why they didn't go for a straight shot into the opposing cylinder instead of doing a 180 like the stock manifolds? i.e.:

perhaps a class restriction? or maybe the considerably longer runner would make more power where they would need it?
EDIT: actually, there are 12 injectors there, aren't there? that would explain a bit.

if u look at mine it has large runner volume and a pretty stright shot atthe back of the vlave , i would have gone for the x style like u posted but that would have involved alot more machine work and welding to the stock manifold i started with
the reason they built that manifold like that well this is my best quess anyways is to use the long runners to pick up low rpm tq till the turbos spooled up
also the gmpp block comes witht he 2.8/3.1 bore and .060 over is the max u can safley bore the sleves

If it was for midget racing you need some diggin power when those things bog down in the turns with the giant knobbies grabbin and monster wing pushin

Isn't that the one that's on display at the Unser racing museum in Albuquerque, NM?
I almost got a chance to get pics a few years ago, i'll be there next month so if it's still there i'll get some really good pics of it.

Fyi, it's a 2.5 (sleeved 2.8). Bowtie block, sumped pan. Heads are gen2 casting. I got around 50 pics of it. I'll post them up when I get back home.

Wow what a motor. i bet that beauty would turn some rpms. And with the dual turbos i bet it sounds amazing as well i would like to see one like that running in a third gen.
