What could have caused this

Consider that the engine never overheated and never rose above 190* tops. What could have caused this crack. The buyer of my heads just sent me this pic of my old head and look at that crack!!! Ran fine on my car and i didnt see it when i took them off but might have over looked it?

Re: What could have caused this

excessive heat is what does that , unless its from mechanical damage , on the other hand i do find it hard to belive it managed to crack between the seats

my 2 guesses are going to be thats the cyl that detonated and broke the piston or...
u had excessive backpresure and lots of heat buildup in the ex port

Was the number 2 or 1 cylinder. It could have been there a while I suppose. The detination that took out the piston in 2012 was number 6 cylinder

Depends when you want to run, for their midnight of mayhem they don't do any prep. no water box either due to every r.icer thinks they can do a burnout, and then blow the trans. Slicks for sure. Elevation at Nellis is ~1900ft, and its 1/2 mile from LVMS.

Free for the heads, had a valve job done on them and maybe put 6-7K miles on them. Been sitting since 2006 lol. Oh and they are missing a couple of valves, when I ported my other set I used those to protect the seats.

1900 ft sounds so much better then my 6500 ft lol and free is always a good price thanks

it prolly wont be a midnight then , as if u saw my build im shooting for 1000hp , and if the track aint preped i might as well make some runs on the street and save the 200 bucks or so in fuel it would cost to tow the car down

prolly have to go for a test and tune to make sure there is good prep , will be first outing for the car so ill prolly make a launch , then a halftrack pass and then full pass if all checks out

need to find out about getting the cage certified , and getting my comp license while im down there as well ,,, lmao i dont even know what nhra division im in

MM released their rule book for this season, and there is a tech inspection. A friend of mine runs his turbo regal at MM was running low 12's high 11's on the old set up, runs slicks too. He left the tree at 10 psi and blew the tires off, had to back out of hit since the car was sideways lol. Saw an 8 second turbo chevelle there the last time I went, he left nice and soft no issues.

Re: What could have caused this

iirc my car setup is only good for 10.00 and slower ( tech wise) , dont mean i wont set it on kill and make a full pass anyway , i need to get the conversion kit to change it into a full cage to run faster

also have to pick up a gopro before i come down
