any quality new 2.8 maf sensors out there?
I replaced my maf sensor on my 89 2.8 a few months ago (oreillys auto parts) knowing its basically a crap-shoot.
Cars been running great but a few days ago I started getting a code 34 everyonce in awhile on start up. If I shut the car off and start it again, the engine light goes away.
I've done alot of searching on the topic, and it looks like I'm pretty much sol if I'm going to stay with the stock computer?
It'd sure be nice if somebody made a plug and play translator for a lt1 or ls1 maf.
I saw in a old thread somebody mentioned Wells made the best aftermarket maf for the 2.8, but I couldn't find any more info on it.
any suggestions?
thanks in advance for any advice.

Just look around Ebay for a NOS sensor. I went through 4 of the auto parts store crap sensors they sell till I found one on ebay. It was for a firebird but I just cut off the elbow for the air filter and made it work. I did that because at the time I couldn't find a direct fit.

Re: any quality new 2.8 maf sensors out there?
I have used 2 different aftermarket MAFs on my car and I can tell you without a doubt that getting even a used GM sensor is going to work better than those aftermarket pieces of garbage. One I had lasted about a year and the other about 3 months. The second didn't even have the frequency film in the middle of the circuit board like GM does... it was at the leading edge so of course the air stream bent it. And, as we all know, once the film is bent, the sensor is useless.

Thanks guys!
I just bought one. will have it in a few days.
I really don't want to go maffless. In the turbobuick world we can buy a plug and play translator and our choice of a lt1 or ls1 sensor, and never look back.
I think I'll email full throttle and ask them if offering one could be a possibility. If I remember correctly, the wire connections are the same.

Re: any quality new 2.8 maf sensors out there?
got the nos ac delco maf in today. put it on and the car is running awesome and no codes. I hope it last long long time.
I'm going to warranty the remanufactured maf I just took off and run the next one till it goofs up and keep the nos one for a back-up.
I'm starting to change my tune about not considering going mafless
I've been doing some searching and reading and from the best I can gather, I can convert to a 90-92 3.1 ECM and use my original 2.8 engine harness, and just do some re-pinning on the ECM harness.
Apperantly the mafless swap to 3.1 is popular with the Fiero crowd.
I found the thread here that is a sticky in the ECM section, but I got a little confused after awhile. Is it true I don't necessarily need to re-tune if I'm not adding a turbo?
Can anybody post a link to a how-to swap from a 2.8 to a 3.1 mafless?
I apologize if there is a link right in front of my eyes that I'm missing
