3.1L Turbo Oil feed Line

This seems like a quick and simple question for you Turbo guys. Im buying materials for an oil feed line on a turbo setup, 92 3.1l. Looking down at the oil filter i notice that there is a threaded hole with a plug right above the oil pressure sensor/sender. Can this be used to feed the turbo? In other setups i have seen a T at the pressure sensor/sender, is that the better way to go? It seems like an easy spot to pull oil from but I want to make sure ill be getting pressurized oil from this location.

Re: 3.1L Turbo Oil feed Line

I see. I'll probably end up doing that. I guess i wont have to worry about that sensor sticking out too far because the exhaust goes around the front of the engine. e-bay oil line feed kits... Crap? Reviews? Opinions?

Re: 3.1L Turbo Oil feed Line

You can use that plugged location.

I did this with my LX9, and feel it's a better location than T-ing off the pressure sensor because it's after the oil filter in the flow of the oiling system, feeding filtered oil to the turbo.

You can use any of those locations. Both me and Dave(project89) teed off the same place.

As far as materials, you can do steel brake hardline with flare/compression fittings(I double flared mine) for the feed. Or the -AN line like was mentioned.

I believe Six used the steel brake line on one of his feed lines, I used copper hardline for HVAC applications on mine, and Dave used -AN line IIRC.

Re: 3.1L Turbo Oil feed Line

I used push lock fittings and 4an twist lock hose from summit. Stuff works great. Will never leak and is highly resistant to heat.

A tee on the oil pressure sending unit, is what 95% of us thirdgen turbo set ups use.

Some pics from a few years back when I first tossed the turbo on. Its not a good set up and was rough, but the fittings were on point. I never once had any sort of leak and the stuff was easy to work with.

Good lord, you guys are making this so easy that I'm going to second guess myself and make it hard somehow. Thank you all for the input!

Re: 3.1L Turbo Oil feed Line

Doesn't look as fancy but Steel line would have the bennfit of also helping to cool the oil. ie how the PS has a loop section of steel line on the frame for a cooler.

could wrap a longer section around a tube n make a tight spiral culy fry section for lots of surface area in a tight place.
