87 camaro V6 mpfi fuel delivery problem
I recently bought an 87 V6 Camaro it was not running when i bought it. When i got it home i got it to run with starting fluid so i think its a fuel problem. with the key on, one of the wires runing to the pump has 5v and and the other show 12v but only when we try to start it and for 2 seconds after. i connected a fuel pressure regulator and it showed 0 consistently any advice would be appreciated thx

Helping with project: we know there is gas in the tank and the SES light is on the whole time. Confirmed ground to fuel pump and can feel vibrations when when pump is energized. Also tried bypassing fuel pump relay and giving the fuel pump wire (tan) a 12v+ connection from battery and had plenty of time to prime and nothing also the pump in this rig is alot quieter then mine in my 91 5.7 firebird are they supose to be the same?

Ike in your car though the cut out the back sheet metal so you don't have to drop the tank

Don't cut your car up. It's really not that hard to remove the tank and put it back.

The bulk head connection in the back can go funky, had to wire around mine.
if the pump doesnt even come on after trying to crank it a few times, dig into it. [ once the engine builds 7psi of oil pressure, the back up switch kicks on ]

Just because the pump is vibrating inside the tank doesn't mean it's pumping anything. Disconnect the inlet to the fuel filter (better yet, remove the fuel filter and replace it) and check for fuel coming out of the line with power connected to the pump.

I am working in it with him and it was already cut out. And when we bumped the starter the pump would pump for a bit we were ting to build pressure that way but nope.

I don't know how a Camaro is set up but I had a 86 Buick Century where there was a 2 inch rubber hose, between the pump and the pipe going out the gas tank, which was split. Pump ran but no pressure.

All Fi system have rubbe near the tank and under the hood. If it was all solid line it would break about ever 5000 miles from fatigue.
brake lines can be solid, as nothing moves.
PS again, rubber, hard lines would break.

Re: 87 camaro V6 mpfi fuel delivery problem
first of all thank you all for your advice and my apogees for not responding sooner between life and working a 16 hour shift at work i didn't have time until to day. i disconnected the fuel line after the filter and when the pump kick on it did produce fuel (the fuel filter looked new) so now I'm confused is it possible to have the line between the filter and the motor be clogged ?
