Jumping/Jerking During Acceleration

I have only had my 92 Camaro 25th Anniversary series, for a week now. Its a manual V6. I already know I have to get some electrical work done(I've been doing what I can). I have unplugged my idle control sender for now, until I'm able to by a new one. But now she's jumping and jerking sometimes while I drive(mainly in 1st and 2nd gear). I plan on replacing the idle sensor, cool temp sender, fuel filter and pump, clutch, and rebuilding my Tran(due to grinding noise in 2nd and 3rd gear). Any pointers? P.S. I've come to name her Storm Trooper(All white with blackouts). Fell in love with her the moment my cheeks hit the seat. Plan on keeping her forever! Help your friendly neighborhood Spyder-Man out my webheads.

Welcome Spyder gamer guy ....

With all the problems you mention , like for instance you mention unplugging the "idle control sender" , which I believe you may be referring to the IAC on the side of the intake near the throttle plate , you'll never be able to chase down things like poor engine performance . You must repair each and every ECM input and output device to allow the ECM to enter "closed loop" operation and properly run the engine . The omission of any one ECM input or output device is all it takes to initiate "Limp home mode" (run by preset defaults rather than adjust the fuel/spark based on actual real time engine operating conditions) . When you have multiple devices missing/inoperative , the ECM digs further and further into those preset defaults and it'll be one crappy ride home , that's for sure .

Theres a good chance you have a hydraulic trans mount, when there shot the whole engine box drive train bounces around, I fixed mine by getting an auto crossmember and a solid v8 mount. ? May be of help ?

Re: Jumping/Jerking During Acceleration

Hi, I have a 89 2.8 and was having the same issue. The tach would jump and it would jerk and buck when accelerating. I replaced the ignition coil and it fixed mine. It is a $20 part on ebay. Maybe you should try that.

Re: Jumping/Jerking During Acceleration

Thanks!!! I will give it try and HOPE, that's all I need. I just bought my TPS and now I have a question. From what I'm reading, I have to set the volt to coincide with the car. But I was told mines is nonadjustable. Is this true?

Re: Jumping/Jerking During Acceleration

Correct, the '90 - '92 TPS is non-adjustable. The ECM auto-zero's it.

If the stock OEM Multec injectors are still in there, time for some different (better) ones.

Thank Spider-Jesus!!! Because I don't have the instruments to check the volt. What am I looking at price range, on new OEM Multec injectors?

Re: Jumping/Jerking During Acceleration

Don't know if new OEM Multec's are still available. Here is the number:

RP Multec 17089569

RP = Rochester Products

Whatever you do, do not get reman Multec's.
