Smog pump 'sensor'

Hey guys,

I'm finally removing the 2.8 V6 motor from one shell to do up and put in the other shell!! Anyway my question is, when I was removing the air pump I found a little sensor attached to the side of it. I only found it because it broke off as I tried to unclip the electrics.

What is it and what does it do? Also how will it affect the ECM once it's removed from the pump or disconnected?

Thanks guys.

I'll get a pic thru the week, the car isn't at home so I'll take a trip up there and get one!

That is a solenoid as part of a AIR switching valve(s). Find what is broke of of and you likely require the whole piece.

Well I'm removing the smog system so what should I do with it? The pump is seized solid and the motor is out so it's coming off.

Re: Smog pump 'sensor'

Unplug the electrical connector from it and bin it. The ECM won't care if the smog pump is there or not.

Fabulous. Well I'll remove that section of the wiring altogether as the loom is out of the car. Thanks for the help on that!
