Car cuts off when accelerating

I had my car taken to the shop due to an issue it was having where it would shut it's self off when it warms up and the only problem they could find was that the altinator was not charging the battery and also that the wire connected to it was bad so they took care of it all and test drove it and it did not do it anymore. So I went to go get it and prior to paying for it I test drove it and it still did not do anything bad so I got it out of the shop and drove it home. After I drove it home I took it to the store and when I left the store I was driving and when I stepped on it the car would immediately lose speed and turn off but when I ease off the gas it would stay on so I discovered that it only cuts off when I speed up and also the fuel pump (which is new) gets louder when the problem occurs but not when I'm driving it 25mph any clues or ideas?

My guess is it is running rich. Is it carbed or injected?

Injected and yea I have come across the rich exhaust trouble code several times but I kind of ignored that because I was having issues with my ecu and altinator now that both have been replaced I may have to look into an o2 sensor maybe?

Could be any number of things, injector sticking open most likely. Try some injector cleaner. The O2 sensor alone will make it run crappy but not that bad.

Ok gotcha. I'll look into that. Anything else possibly to look for?

I would check the O2 sensor as well because the running rich could ruin it after a while.

Awesome thanks, and when you say the injector is sticking open does that mean one or more could be getting too much fuel?

The injectors are electrical mechanical, esentially the computer pulse fires them in a batch to regulate the fuel. You most likely have one or more stuck open or slow to close when the computer shuts it off.

No I just replaced my distributor and still no progress. It's annoying. I replaced almost every possible factor.

My buddy told me they have a faulty intake manifold, could be leaking in there or maybe a possible injectors are bad

Well the only thing I have left to look into is my hypertech chip that I had installed in the ecu. I am trying to figure is there any other mods that I need to make to the car besides for having to get the right thermostat temperature and using 93 octane gas. And another thing I noticed when it bogs down and cuts off is that the fuel pump gets extremely loud every single time before it cuts off.

Check your fuel pressure regulator and injectors
