Help......I can't even get my tires to spin

Hey,

This may sound dumb to some of you older users, but with only 140 hp, my tires wont even spin. Does that have to do w/ just the hp? At what hp will tires spin? My friend has a formula 305 that she let me drove....I can push the gas pedal down about halfway and the car will burnout (yeah, I know it's not good for the tires.....) So how can I add quick & cheap hp or whatever I need to spin my tires?? thanks -Zach

LOL Try pressing the brake just enough so it doesn't move then press the gas and it should spin. I just dump the clutch at 2500 rpms and they light up.

It has more to do with gearing, tire wear, tire quality, road conditions (including weather), etc then it does with HP. If you want to do super smoky burnouts everytime you hit the gas get some store brand tires with a treadwear rating of 5000 and they'll just shread like the eraser on a pencil. Or if you have a clutch you can rev and release, but it gets old. Keep in mind anytime you're spinning the tires the car isn't going anywhere as fast as what it could if the tires were sticking. Also having to replace tires once a year sucks ***.

Don't abuse your car to make it spin the tires, you'll just look like a total dumbass in the process.

Get a v8.........or, for a cheaper method, vegatable shortening smeared liberally onto the rear tires should also do the trick. Thanks for the laugh!

I have a nearly stock LO3....Probobally runs a mid to high 15
So what...Wish I could say it ran a 10, but i've had the car for 3 months, and make $7.50 an hour. (not that bad for 17 years old)
btw...was I bragging in the above post?

I wish my 'Bird didn't burnout half as much as it does. I'm looking into wider tires to help it out a bit. You lose too much jump in a race

When's the last time the car had a major tuneup? (And I don't just mean plugs and wires and air filter, either!) A couple people found out after following my major tuneup list that they could finally spin the tires, so maybe that's all you need. Find the information here: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...threadid=62882

Well I don't have to dump the clutch to get mine spinning. A soft rev to 2k and slowly releasing the clutch and continue the throttle burn 'em every time for a good 50 feet...... But I also have to hold 1st to do it. I can chirp 2nd hard at the shift. And No I do not recomend you spinning them alot.
