Vacuum hose problem

Vacuum hose problem


Does anyone know where this vacuum line is supposed to go ?

Yes indeed I do , it's supposed to connect to a piece of solid plastic tubing that is bundled in with the heater/AC wiring harness that exits the firewall . You may notice with that not connected the heat/AC blows out of the defroster vents only and not out of the dash vents or the floor vents , this is the default "failure mode" of when there is no vacuum applied to the heat/AC to ensure a clear windshield . Also , right at where the 90 degree bent rubber boot meets the valve there is broken off a second vacuum connection that's supposed to go to the vacuum storage ball that lives under the battery tray (jokingly called "The Orb of Power" by enough people that a search here for it will produce results) . With that being open like that you have a vacuum leak that could very well produce a crappy (choppy) idle .

Your welcome , and yes , it's supposed to be on any third gen with a vacuum operated HVAC system regardless of the engine's number of cylinders .

Hey I know it’s been awhile but I finally got a chance to check out the storage ball and I don’t have one ,so are there only certain years that have one ?
