Need help with a sensor on passenger side of motor behind the head.

My baby
Need help with a sensor on the passenger side of the engine on the head, Its a line coming off of it and I cant figure out what it is, Im taking apart the motor tomorrow to put in new push rods but want to know what this sensor is so I can buy a new one for it Thursday, Had this car for a year and barely drove it much. Has a 2.8 in it with 40,000 original miles
Has a vacuum line but no line going to it. This is frustrating cause I bought so much stuff for it but cant really do anything till its running good.

Dude , with all due respect , , , , , If you can post pictures of "My Baby" , you surely must be able to post a far more important picture , namely a pic of exactly WHAT it is your trying to identify ????

I THINK it could be the temperature switch that runs the radiator's electric fan in the event the ECM fails to , but without that all important pic all your gonna get outta me is an "I think" , VS a 100% solid identification of just what it is your looking at .

The V6 section gets very little traffic. You'll have some patience.

None as I can tell. Its just a vacuum line coming off of it, Plugged it and it seems to run better but my lifters are ticking so im not sure if it helped or not.

Sometimes life gets in the way of a quick answer , this past week I was tied up with a set of Ford 4.6 timing chains

Now , what your looking at is not supposed to have any vacuum hoses connected to it , it's (what's left of) the radiator's fan switch that is supposed to engage the fan if the ECM doesn't . I say "what's left of" because the metal pin you see in your pic is actually the electrical contact in the center of the nice new switch in this pic I stole from Rock Auto of what your switch is supposed to look like if the plastic wasn't all smashed off of it .

There should be a wire hanging around somewhere in the general area with a connector that'll fit over what you see in my picture ........

Good job orange. The connector end will look something similar to what the connector on the brake valve under the booster looks like. Should have a green or green/white trace wire to it.

Thanks guys, sorry if I came across as like a jerk, I just want to get her running again, Kid before me messed everything up on it, timing was 180 off, o2 sensor was sheared off, valves are tapping, only thing he did was put a new light switch in and even messed that up.
