Intake Question

I'm looking to get better airflow in my 86 2.8 mpfi. I'm trying to decide between making a custom 3" CAI with a K&N cone filter, or just getting the ram air boxes for my y-intake from hawks. If anyone has an opinion I'd love to hear, thanks.

Re: Intake Question

My opinion would be to leave it stock. The best, most free flowing, ultimate ram air setup will do absolutely nothing to make a v6 car faster or more fuel efficient.

Re: Intake Question

If it doesn't do anything then why are there guides on how to do it?

Re: Intake Question

Because people like to feel involved with their cars by doing mods that are low risk and low cost. At some level of performance, the intake becomes a restriction, but you're two cylinders away from achieving that.

Re: Intake Question

Sounds like someone doesn't like v6s ig, lol. Thats ok. Not everyone can afford dropping $50 in gas every time they need to run an errand

Re: Intake Question

Funny considering one of the fastest third gens ever made was a v6! If I were you, I wouldn't just smack an air filter on your car and call it a day. Unfortunately as every car mod goes, modifying one thing means doing another. A fresh air intake won't really give you what you want, it'll look and sound cool though, if that's what you like😏
