2.8 to 3.4 worth it?
I know there are multiple threads on this topic, but is there a noticeable difference in power or anything? Because my 2.8 is leaking oil (probably rear main seal), but I want something with more umph (obviously it's a Camaro). However I still have to get the 3.4 for like $800 then get gaskets to swap oil pan, chain cover, filter housing etc. So basically what I'm asking is, is the swap truly worth doing or should I just stick with the 2.8 mpfi(assuming that it is just the seal that's leaking)?

Old saying, "there's no replacement for displacement." And that old 2.8 is probably one good rev away from spinning a bearing. The 3.4 might need more than a couple gaskets to get dialed in for the Camaro. And there is a performance camshaft for those that will work with the ECM too that would make a bit more power.

Find a lot of good info on this swap over on the www.s10forum.com site. Pretty common swap for the trucks.

It's not worth it. The minimal gain to go to an engine that is just as unreliable would be similar to taking all of your watches and linking them together to make a belt. "Waist of time" . If you were trying to stay with a v6 for some unknown reason , the 3800 series 2 would be a better choice. They have plastic coolant elbows that need to be replaced with metal ones and ignition modules that are prone to failure. But also a stock supercharger option.
The 3.4 is pretty solid oil leak machine, after time the rocker arm bolts will start pulling the threads out of the head, if it's leaking coolant it's a toss up between the intake gaskets or the head gaskets.
this is just my thoughts based off of my years of experience with gm and the progression of that engine platform. The 3.5/3.9 made some good updates over the 3.1/3.4 but I'm glad they killed it off finally.

Looks like you made multiple threads yourelf lol so ill add my response here...
IMO???? Well, I just did a basic stock for stock upgrade... no turbo, no hybrid etc.... It wasnt really that much of a difference..... i mean im happy its a LITTLE more responsive.... but its kinda like asking for more ketchup packets and the person gives you 2.... I'm happy I got the most out of what I can for a easy / no modifications / no custom fab engine swap....
If you want POWER..... you need to go out and buy the whole ketchup bottle (V8)
I find the 2.8 / 3.4 to be reliable... no issues... the FWD version had all the intake leaks and what not but these RWD units seem sturdy... they just dont produce tons of power.
It's the most power you'll get without having to do any fab / custom work.
