Whats wrong with my car

This morning i started my car herd a loud sqeeling sound so i drove to work hearing the sound in the center of my dash. on my brake at work i check out my car and concluded the sound is coming from the distributor. Iit sounds like a very quiet horn beeping and goes away as u rev up the engine. I put my hand on the Dist and i could feel the vibrations comming off the distributor. Any ideas what it is? and how to fix it

Sounds like the bushings are smoked. Take off the dist. cap and grab the rotor, see if it has side to side play in the shaft. If it does, your in need of a new dist.

Is there a puddle of oil at the distrib?. The Bushings will lead to a puddle being there, as it allows the distrib to move around alot and fry the seal.
When you "found" the source the car was running right?. if not or even if so get a LONG SOLID peice of metal and place it against different objects on the engine. Its basically a stethoscope. You can really pin point Cam bearing, distrib bushings ect like that.

Now I am not saying its not the bushings, just make sure before you go to pull the distrib to replace them and your cars down for a couple days-week.

I noticed it only does it when the car is cold in the mornign this moring i startd it up herd the noise for about 10 seconds went away. Its comming from the distrubtor area and like i said you can feel the vibration from the sound in the dist cap if u put your hand on it. Any other ideas or is it still probly the dist? also im pretty sure its gettin oil weell the pressure guage shows 40-60 psi when i start up my car.

If the noise is only for that short a time its more then likely NOT the bushings. Maybe something internal though. Or it could be lack of oil at startup on the bearings...
