We swapped another 3.1L into our 1992 rs, initially it would try to crank, then all the sudden it stopped and not it won’t even try to crank. Security light goes off after a few seconds however nothing is getting power other than the dash lights. New starter, distributor, spark plugs, checked timing. We have no idea what it could be. It sounds like a vats problem but our only concern is the security light doesn’t stay on. Not sure what to check next.

 

Bypass the starter enable relay, then if it then crank consistently and doesn’t start. Fix the passkey system or bypass it.
