91 Camaro Brake Pad Replacement Prob
Is there a trick to doing this. I had the wheel off, and I could not figure out how to get the damn calipers off?
Any help would be appreciated?

After you pull the wheel off there should be two allen bolts. One on top and one on the bottom. That should be all that is holding it. You may have to tap the wrench to get the allen bolts out. Make sure you have something to support the capiper after it is removed so that it is not hanging by the brake line. Before you put the new pads on you have to push the piston back into the caliper. I use a small block of wood on the piston and compress it back in with a C clamp. Then put the new pads in place and replace the calaper. The long allen bolts hold the pads in place once installed.
Considering the fact that you had to ask this question, I highly suggest that you go to your auto parts store and buy the Haynes Auto Repair Manual for Camaro '82-'92. It has step-by-step instructions and many photos for basically all of the repairs a person would do to their car.
Anyway to answer your question -
Use a 3/8" allen wrench to remove the two caliper mounting bolts. You have to reach behind the caliper to get at the head of the bolts. You should be able to wiggle off the whole caliper assembly by pulling it away from the rotor. If for some reason it is too tight, you may need to push the piston back into its bore using a large C-clamp.
(Sorry, the question was answered as I typed my reply.)

That's the whole point.
I cannot find any allen bolts back there.
Do you guys have any pics.

THEY ARE THERE!!
PROMISE!!
It is a sunken female head on the two bolts holding the caliper to the asssembly.
NOW.
Put it all back together.
It sounds like you are NOT SURE what you are doing.
Go get a book an look at pics.
To access it easy.
Jack up car
SUPPORT CAR WITH JACK STANDS!
Shake car to make sure it's STABLE!!!
Put ignition key in car, twist to UNLOCK STEERING WHEEL-NO electric power thru engine!, so you can turn wheels from outta car.
Wheels off car.
Twist, stick head in there (wheel well) and see theh two long bolts holding claiper on the front spindle.
That's the bolt head where the MALE ALLEN socket assembly inserts.
Break free and remove the claiper.
ONE EXTRA TIP,
BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE CALIPER, insert a screwdriver into the pads, and force pads away from the rotor.
This is the idea, as the new pads are thicker & won't "fit" into the assembly upon reassembly.
I THINK YOU BETTER FIND A FRIEND THAT HAS DONE BRAKES BEFORE to assit ya.
Meaning, the BEST WORKING BRAKES are the CHEAPEST auto insurance you can buy.
Got it?
Ask a friend for help and have a good time.
You will have to buy some tools to do this.
AND I'll bet you need to remove the glaze from the rotors, too.
Do you know how to remove the rotors for turning?
Do you know how to repack a bearing so when you reassemble, your wheels don't fall off
DO you know how to retighten the castle nut correctly so there is no wheel wobble when braking?
Again...the BEST WORKING BRAKES are the CHEAPEST auto insurance you can buy.

I've done it on a Caravan, and a 88 bird before, but it was kinda getting dark outside, and I could figure it out.
The setup is different from the bird.
Just wanted to check and see if there was anything special, before I attacked it tomorrow.
thanks.

82-92 F body front brakes identical
82-95 S-10 brakes identical to F body, except they call for a different pad number. Don't know why but do.
IF you need rotor, S-10 rotors & F bodies rotors are the same.
sounds ike you've been there. Good luck
Support the car in the air, please.
